GuestHello,
I am building a WordPress platform that will (a) allow businesses to post paid online classes and events and (b) allow prospective customers to register for and purchase tickets to these classes / events. Will these possible using The Events Calendar and some additional plug-ins? If so, what will be required to get this up and running?
Thank you!

KeymasterHi Adam,
Thanks for checking out our plugins!
The Events Calendar will let you create events on your site, and as for ticketing, Event Tickets will let you create free (RSVP-style) tickets and paid tickets that can be purchased on your site via a direct integration with PayPal. If you would like to integrate with either WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads to sell tickets, then Event Tickets Plus will let you do that. It includes some other features as well, like QR codes and custom fields to collect additional attendee information.
To allow businesses to post events from the front end of your site, you would need Community Events. Community Tickets builds on the features of Community Events and Event Tickets Plus to allow users to create and sell tickets on the events that they post. You might be interested in our Community Manager bundle, which includes Event Tickets Plus, Community Events, Community Tickets, and Filter Bar, which adds some nice filtering features to your events page. The bundle ($299) is cheaper than purchasing the three plugins that you would need individually ($357), and you get Filter Bar as a bonus 🙂
We do offer full refunds within 30 days of purchase, so if you’d like to take any of our premium plugins for a test run, feel free to do so! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Jennifer

GuestJennifer, thanks very much. Very helpful. Reading through your site, it appears that user registration can be required for event submissions. Are we able to require registration for customers that sign up for these events and does community manager handle these registrations or would registrations be done using a different plug in?
Best,
Adam

KeymasterHi Adam,
You are correct that you can require users to login both to submit events and to purchase tickets.
To allow users to sell tickets on your site from the front end, you need Event Tickets, Event Tickets Plus, and Community Tickets (which requires Community Events). I know these plugin dependencies can get a bit confusing, so to put it simply, Event Tickets Plus builds on Event Tickets, and Community Tickets builds on (or essentially integrates) both Community Events (which handles the front end user submissions) and Event Tickets Plus. (Hopefully that didn’t make things more confusing!)
To get a closer look at how things work, I would recommend taking a look at some of these articles:
Event Tickets/Event Tickets Plus

Settings Overview: Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus
Managing Your Orders and Attendees
Community Events/Community Tickets
New User Primer: Community Events
Settings Overview: Community Events

Community Tickets: Tracking Sales and Getting Paid
Don’t worry – no need to read these word-for-word! But, if you scroll through them, you can see some screenshots of the front and back ends and some highlights of the features that are available just by reading the section headings 🙂
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Jennifer
