Before using Event Tickets, you’ll want to make sure that you have the plugin settings configured to meet your needs. You can find your tickets settings under Events –> Settings –> Tickets.
If you’re using Event Tickets with The Events Calendar, you’ll want to make sure to review our guide to The Events Calendar’s settings. If you’re not using TEC, be sure to read the section below on stand alone Tickets settings.
Under the ticket settings heading, you can choose which parts of your site can be used with tickets. Tickets can be used on any Custom Post Type. You’ll see Post and Page as two of your options. Depending on what other plugins you have active, you may also see Event and/or Product. Check with options you want to use with Tickets and save your settings. You’ll now see a Tickets meta box available on those post types.
As of Event Tickets version 4.4 (December 2016), there is a setting for you to choose the location on the single events view where your RSVP tickets or Event Tickets Plus tickets are displayed.
With Event Tickets 4.2, we added the ability for the site admin to require that visitors log in before responding to an RSVP. By checking the box, you’ll add an extra step to the RSVP process which asks users to log into your site before an RSVP is confirmed. All site visitors will be able to see that an event has RSVPs, but only authenticated site users can submit an RSVP response.
If you want to use this feature, we highly recommend that you configure your WordPress Membership settings (under Settings –> General) so that anyone can register on your site. If you do not allow registration, RSVPs will only be available to users for whom you have specifically created an account.
If you are using Event Tickets Plus, you can also require people to log into your site before purchasing a ticket. This setting is separate from the one for RSVPs, so you can configure them differently if you so choose.
If you are using Event Tickets without The Events Calendar, there are a few other settings that you’ll want to configure on the General and Display tabs. Users of The Events Calendar also have these tabs (along with a large number of calendar-specific settings) but this section only reviews those relevant to Event Tickets/Event Tickets Plus without TEC.
- Default currency symbol: This allows non-US users to change the currency symbol for ticket pricing. This only applies toEvent Tickets Plus users.
- Currency symbol follows value: Users with a default currency that follows the amount (for example 10 zł) can check this box to have the currency symbol show after the money value. This only applies to Event Tickets Plus users.
- Debug mode: Turn this checkbox on to log debug information. This is probably not worth enabling unless you have the specific intent of checking for errors with the plugin code.
Date Format Settings
- Date with year: the format you specify here will be used when displaying a full date, such as January 1, 2016.
- Date time separator: this setting allows you to change the symbol or word that displays between the date and time of an event (for example January 1 @ 9:00 am).
- Datepicker date format: the date format you choose here will show everywhere there is a datepicker on the backend of your site, such as the Start Date for ticket sales.
If you have purchased Event Tickets Plus (or any of our other paid add-ons), this is where you’ll go to add your license key. The more premium plugins you have installed, the more fields will appear. You can add as many or as few as you want at a given time; remember that since none of our plugins require the license to work, you’re merely adding them to access support and future updates.
