    Hi Patricia,

We’re experiencing the same problem. I have define( 'WP_DEBUG', false ); on my production site but the error messages still display in the month view.

That line of code hides the notices for another bug, which is highlighted in this post: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/notice-trying-to-get-property-of-non-object/

Perhaps that line of code only hides notices and not warnings?

Here’s something that may be helpful in diagnosing what is causing the issue: the number of notices is equal to the number of Event Categories with parents.

Please let me know if there’s additional information I can provide. Thank you.

    Hi Barry and Charles,

I saw the following line in the release notes for the latest version of TEC (4.6.2):

“Tweak – Avoid notice level errors when a non-existent category archive is requested (our thanks to Charles Simmons for highlighting this)”

After updating the plugin, the error message has disappeared from my beta site. Thanks for your work on this.

    Best,
    Kevin

    Barry,

Thanks so much for your attention on this. I’ve hidden the error message in production using the method you provided. Please keep us updated on the fix.

Hi Barry, we are having a similar issue. For us, the error message displays for categories with hyphens in the slug. Categories without hyphens do not display the error message. I also wanted to note that we can view the events despite the error message, and that all of the categories we’ve tested still exist. I’ve included our error message below:

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in XXX/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/functions/template-tags/general.php on line 663
    data-title="Upcoming Events – XXX" data-startofweek="0" data-view="list" data-baseurl="http://XXX/events/list/" data-mobilebreak="782" data-default-mobile-view="list" data-default-view="list">

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Josh, after extensively testing on multiple computers and browsers this does seem to be a caching issue! Thank you. The icon is still incorrect and that occurred with the 3.8 update on the Filterbar. Any chance that can be fixed?

    Brian,

Thank you for your sleuthing! We will look forward to seeing this resolved on the release in the next few weeks and then move the 3.8 update on to production.

    Brian,

Thank you for the quick response. I should have included that I’m testing on our beta.sfbike.org, which is our protocol for plugin updates just in case they break something! Please see the error here: http://beta.sfbike.org/event/volunteer-night/2014-10-08/

Hi! I’m having this problem, too. Here’s the notice text: Notice: tribe_get_events was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 3.8! Setting eventDisplay to ‘upcoming’ is deprecated. Please use ‘list’ instead. in /nfs/c04/h01/mnt/69205/domains/beta.sfbike.org/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3318

We have replaced “upcoming” with “list” within the 2 files it was referenced (that we found) and while that fixed the way the upcoming events were being displayed there (side-bar widgets), the notice is still on our single-event view (ie. http://beta.sfbike.org/event/bicycle-advisory-committee-meeting-8/).

    What are we missing?

    Thanks!

Thanks for checking in. We haven’t tested the solution you proposed yet but I appreciate your response. You can close this and if something comes up when we try it I will repost. Thanks!

Additionally, I realize it would also be great to get this Additional Field to display where the Cost field displays in the actual Event page itself too. Basically, we want the Additional Field “Register” to display as a Hyperlink where the Cost field displays. I assume this means changing the PHP templates to reflect grabbing the additional field wherever the Cost field is grabbed but could use your guidance before starting to go into the PHP.

Hi, haven’t heard back on this. Has your team been able to look into this issue and resolve what’s going on? Please let me know.
