It seems the problemw we are having is a conflict between Woo Commerce and
our theme (WP-Bold). Isn’t the Woo Commerce plug-in part of our Event
Tickets Plus that we purchased from Modern Tribe?
I can’t get support from Woo Commerce because they only support
    subscriptions for their paid extensions.

    Hi Hunter,
Without having taken any action, the issue seems to have resolved, including this error message:
wp_remote_post() failed. PayPal IPN won’t work with your server. Contact your hosting provider. Status code: 403

Of course it’s unsettling not to know what caused this. I did talk to our host about that message, and they were not that helpful – I was getting ready to make another support chat to them, to get a different perspective, but at least for now we’re out of the woods.

Of course, if you have any insights based on my earlier message, I’d be happy to learn more.

    I added
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
to the wp.config debug lines to that file, and the result produced quite a stream of errors, which I have provided below (I tried attaching as both word and pdf, but that was not allowed) . I’m afraid all of this is over my head. I then deleted those lines, as it made the website not very usable. You will see towards the end of the errors a reference to the Events Calendar:

Notice: /home/ourtownl/public_html/monadnockcenter.org/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/deprecated/TribeEventsPro.php is deprecated since version 3.10! Use Tribe__Events__Pro__Main instead.

I did an inspection, but did not see any errors displayed.

Meanwhile I discovered a line in the WooCommerce System Status:
wp_remote_post() failed. PayPal IPN won’t work with your server. Contact your hosting provider. Status code: 403
This suggests that the problem is with our server, so I will take this up with them. I will let you know when and if this is resolved, and meanwhile if the error messages below reveal anything further you can let me know. Thank you.

Thanks Brian, this did resolve the issue.
I did have my licenses for both the calendar and the tickets already in place – no automatic update occurred, but I was able to update through the control panel, and can keep in mind to double check that moving forward.

Further info – I have now realized the instances where this has ocurred are where I had recently deleted tickets (due to another issue) and then created new tickets, so these are all tickets created since the most recent upgrade. All previously created tickets seem to be fine.

This is one of the moments that is rather embarrassing, but welcome. Your question about the email address for our Paypal account got me realizing that our director had recently changed this, but neither she nor I had thought about updating it in this area.

We changed it, tested it, and it works.

Thank you for your cheerful assistance.

Curiously, when I would run an update from the plugins panel, it did not find 4.1, but I downloaded it and installed it, and that did resolve the issue. Thank you.

Still no success – everything is updated.
    Here’s the code:

At some point we probably will transition this site to Canvas, which should resolve this, but that’s a few months out there.

    Thanks for your continued assistance.

    I added the code.
This does not change the message.
I tested it with two different orders.

    Hi George,

I will try this, however before I do, I notice that the end of the code you provided does not include
a “?>”. I’m not strong on php but it’s my understanding that is a standard ending. Should I add that in?

Also, once I do try this, it might be several days before I know whether this works, as we are a couple of weeks away from a ticketed event, so we may not have any sales in the next few days.

Unless there is another way to check this?

    Thanks,
    Gordon

This issue is not resolved. I added the code (see screenshot
http://monadnockcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/TicketsScreenShot.jpg ) but have since received another ticket order with the original message. This seems like something that should really be able to customized in settings, since situations vary so much. But for the moment I’d just like to get it working by whatever means necessary. Thanks for your continued support.

Before I try this, I’m curious about the reference to
    “function gpeery_woo_email_message”
where it includes a reference to my name.
In our ticket email settings, the email is actually sent from [email protected].
. . or is this just creating a new function which has a title using my name as an identifier.
I’m not that savvy with php.

    Thanks,
    Gordon
