    Site: Monadnockcenter.org
    Product: Events Tickets uses Woo Commerce to process to Paypal.
    Until recently this has been working fine.
    Suddenly, Paypal is unable to process the orders. We have talked to them, and they say everything is right on their end, there must be something in the information that is being sent that doesn’t make for a workable connection.
    We have not knowingly changed anything on our end.
    Any suggestions? Since I don’t use Woo for anything else, I am not a paying customer, so I don’t have access to support for Woo Commerce.

    Hi and welcome,

    Please do a quick test as outlined in the Testing for conflicts guide. Make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page and in your error log you try to reproduce the conflict. Please share any errors/notices/warnings with me.

    Open the β€˜Inspect’ tool to see if any errors display in the console. Review our Using Google Chrome Developer Tools tutorial for more information. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.

    Do you have a PayPax Developer account where you can enter “Sandbox” mode so you can fully troubleshoot the issue? I checked our logged bug reports but am not finding anything resembling what you’ve shared with me.

    Please let me know the results of your testing and we’ll go from there. Thanks and take care.

    I added
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
    to the wp.config debug lines to that file, and the result produced quite a stream of errors, which I have provided below (I tried attaching as both word and pdf, but that was not allowed) . I’m afraid all of this is over my head. I then deleted those lines, as it made the website not very usable. You will see towards the end of the errors a reference to the Events Calendar:

    Notice: /home/ourtownl/public_html/monadnockcenter.org/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/deprecated/TribeEventsPro.php is deprecated since version 3.10! Use Tribe__Events__Pro__Main instead.

    I did an inspection, but did not see any errors displayed.

    Meanwhile I discovered a line in the WooCommerce System Status:
    wp_remote_post() failed. PayPal IPN won’t work with your server. Contact your hosting provider. Status code: 403
    This suggests that the problem is with our server, so I will take this up with them. I will let you know when and if this is resolved, and meanwhile if the error messages below reveal anything further you can let me know. Thank you.

    Hi Hunter,
    Without having taken any action, the issue seems to have resolved, including this error message:
    wp_remote_post() failed. PayPal IPN won’t work with your server. Contact your hosting provider. Status code: 403

    Of course it’s unsettling not to know what caused this. I did talk to our host about that message, and they were not that helpful – I was getting ready to make another support chat to them, to get a different perspective, but at least for now we’re out of the woods.

    Of course, if you have any insights based on my earlier message, I’d be happy to learn more.

    I’m not seeing any errors relating to the ones you’ve shared with me, but I quickly skimmed over them so there’s the chance one might be related. Regardless, I’m happy to hear things have worked themselves out for the mean time.

    There is always the chance the issue is coming from PayPal itself. They’ve been known to have outages, so try contacting them next time for any insight. If it’s been awhile since you went through your WooCommerce settings, mainly those related to PayPal, it might be best doing so.

    When users have custom templates, they are responsible for updating them to match changes made in new releases. Of course, we try to minimize disruption as far as possible. Also, we try to clue you in to things you should look for by providing useful data in Events > Help > Recent Template Changes. If you navigate there, you should see a list of recently updated templates (which changes each release). This is useful to ensure you’re using the latest code.

    I’d also like to reiterate my recommendation to get a test site up integrated with your PayPal developer account. You can test the entire process to ensure things work exactly how you need. Keep me posted! Cheers πŸ™‚
