Thanks for reaching out and although 404’s can be alarming, this particular case is fine and what should be happening. This is common with events especially when the event expires. They are referred to as soft 404 errors and basically just telling Google to no longer index the event post.

In regards to the featured image, your theme may be overriding the image size. Here is a helpful guide that explains how you can control this:

In regards to better display of the widget, you can use the filter setting for more advanced control of what you would like to display. Look at the guide below under the “Filter” heading:

Can you try switching to the default theme of 2017 to see if the issue continues?
