MemberHi Rachel – just for the avoidance of any doubt can you confirm that after disabling all other plugins you also tried switching to a default, unmodified theme?

MemberWhat we want is that the search results only in the next UPCOMING โWordPress Workshopโ”, not all 365 instances of it.
Right, so we’re seeing something different.
Though not perfect, what I see when the show only the first instance of each recurring event (only affects list-style views) setting is enabled is only the first of each recurring event (when someone searches via the main WordPress search).
It sounds like you are seeing all of them and that’s a little unexpected.
YES, I’ve deactivated all other plugins to check for a plugin conflict.
YES, I’ve reverted to the 2011 default WordPress theme (with other plugins still deactivated) to check for a theme conflict. When you created this thread you noted having run through the above troubleshooting steps which is awesome. Did you see the same thing under those conditions? I’d like to be doubly sure as this isn’t something I can replicate locally.

MemberReally a customization like this is something we need to leave in your hands – but I’d make a couple of observations here:
Attempting to redirect a page like example.com/events/event-name/next results in auto redirecting to example.com/events/event-name/all
The idea is not to redirect to example.com/events/event-name/next but rather to “listen” for those requests and redirect from there to a specific instance of the recurring event, like example.com/events/event-name/yyyy-mm-dd.
I canโt tell if this is because the event calendar is not included in the endpoint $places (i have it set to all and all_archive) or because the calendar plugin redirects are overriding my own. Do you know what this is caused by?
It’s worth bearing in mind order-of-operations issues. If for instance The Events Calendar/Event Calendar PRO’s rules are evaluated before yours that could upset the apple cart to some extent.
I’d genuinely love to dive into this in more detail but I’m afraid we really don’t have the resources to go into detail on requests like this. I do hope the above gives you some ideas to think about, though, and hope you figure out a solution ๐
As we can’t really go much further with this one I’ll go ahead and close the thread, but please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed if you need assistance with anything else.
Thanks!

MemberHi Joe,
Could this be a problem with your content? The RSS feed is already declared as UTF-8 format but there do seem to be a couple of unrecognisable characters coming through.
I’m not sure if you’re happy for your site’s URL to be published openly in the forums so I’ll share a relevant URL from your site by private reply to be safe – but essentially if you look at the sentence I’m going to highlight you’ll see what may look like typos when you view the event post in your browser – actually though there are non-UTF8 characters being mixed in.
Can you review the posts in question and try adjusting them accordingly?
Barry
MemberFantastic ๐
I’ll go ahead and close this thread in that case – but if we can help with anything else please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed and one of the team will be only too happy to help.
Last but not least, if you have a moment to spare we’d love to get your thoughts on The Events Calendar over on our plugin review page – thanks again!
Barry
MemberAwesome ๐
I’ll go ahead and mark the thread as closed in that case but please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed if we can help with anything else.
Thanks again!

MemberJust checking in here to see if there’s any further update/if you still need assistance on this one – let me know ๐
Barry
MemberIs it just when you edit them? If so, can you trash them / select a number of them and do a bulk delete?
Barry
MemberHi!
What happens if you switch from the Default Page Template (in the Events > Settings > Display admin screen) to Default Events Template – does that improve things at all?
Let me know!
Barry
MemberIt’s certainly possible to sort them alphabetically or by price if that’s what you’re trying to do. These examples relate to WooCommerce Tickets rather than EDD Tickets but the mechanics would be pretty similar – does that help/what sort of arrangement are you trying to achieve here?

MemberHi halostribe,
If you’re using tribe_create_events() then it is worth noting this is effectively a wrapper around wp_insert_post() – and so you can pretty much use the same arguments (and apply taxonomy terms via a tax_input argument. More details can be found in the WordPress docs:
- http://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_insert_post
Does that help?

MemberHi Barry,
Some great questions there ๐
The event dates/times (and ticket sale dates/times) are timezone independent. In other words, they inherit whatever the timezone setting is for WordPress itself.
So, if you’re in a situation where this might be ambiguous for your users, then yes – it could be worth clarifying the actual timezone.
Does that answer your question?
Barry
MemberGreat question!
While I don’t have any specific recommendations to make myself/on behalf of the team, we can certainly leave this open and see if any others have ideas ๐
Barry
MemberHi – great question.
It might be best to take this across to the WooCommerce team for further advice, or else look through their list of available extensions. Though not expressly designed to meet the need you’ve described, something like this add-on might let you achieve your goals here ๐
Beyond that, you could experiment with editing tickets in the WooCommerce product editor, changing their type so they become physical, shipped products and go from there (naturally this might require a few other changes down the line, but again it could be worth exploring).
Last but not least, we’re always interested in new ideas and feature requests for inclusion in future releases, so please do consider posting this as a request on our UserVoice page if you think this would be neat to see as a “baked in” feature of WooCommerce Tickets.
Thanks again for contacting us!
