You’re definitely not the only one using WPML and we’re aware that it is a very popular plugin, but my understanding is that some not inconsiderable work will be required to bring about improved compatibility – I’m afraid we just won’t be able to do that in the short term.

We know this is a real pain point for many of our users and in fact I think strategies to improve the situation are being discussed today, but right now I’m afraid there is little else I can offer up here.

That could be worthwhile. What I saw in my copy of Karma was that the title is printed inside a loop of its own, of course normally the title need only be printed once so perhaps they could provide a safe way of changing this.

OK, so you’re using Event Categories here (if I’m understanding you correctly) … are you unable to see a metabox listing those categories on the Appearance > Menus admin page?

If so, can you use the Screen Options pulldown and ensure that Event Categories has been checked?

Do you mean a navigation menu or the admin menu bar that displays at the top when you’re logged in?

    Hi garumc,

Can you try our standard troubleshooting steps here?

    • Please ensure that your Modern Tribe plugins are up-to-date and in-synch … for instance if you are using The Events Calendar 2.0.11 you must also use Events Calendar PRO 2.0.11
    • Deactivate all other plugins and change your theme to a default, unmodified one such as Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve
    • Now test to see if the problem still exists
    • If the problem has been solved by these steps, start reactivating everything one-at-a-time, testing at each point to see if the issue has returned
    • If the issue does return, take note of whichever plugin (or theme) you reactivated immediately before it started again – it’s likely there is a conflict with this item

    Does that help?

    Hi again Kirks.

So I’ve logged an issue for this so that it can be addressed in a future version of The Events Calendar (and I believe the code responsible may be scheduled for removal in any case).

In the meantime what I’d suggest is either working with your theme author (and please feel free to invite them to contact us if you like) to see if there is an alternative to fetching the title inside a loop of its own, or else breaking it out after one iteration, or else perhaps consider switching to a different template.

If you use the Default Events Template (which you can select in the Events > Settings > Template settings page) I don’t believe this problem will occur.

What will very probably cause an issue is the appearance of the Default Events Template under Karma … however this probably isn’t too difficult to solve if you are comfortable editing templates – I suspect some “wrapper” code needs to be injected and probably not much else.

Some resources to read up on if you want to give that a try:

    Thanks!

Scary to hit clear and save. We thought that it would clear the whole list.

… And I’ll take note of that, too. Good point 🙂

OK, well that (ordering events by post status) is definitely a valid idea and I’ll submit it as a feature request for the team to consider for future versions – but I’m afraid I can’t really offer up a temporary workaround at this point.

I’m unsure if WooTickets itself adds difficulties but there are quite a few reports of incompatibility between WPML and our core plugin, unfortunately.

It’s definitely something we want to improve going forward, but, right now I’m not sure we can offer up much support in this direction.

You should be able to clear existing instances and re-enter them on the license keys page … note that, apart from the need for automated updates, this won’t affect the functionality of your site.

If you find anything in the logs (of course you would expect an entry corresponding to the date and time that you tried activating our plugin) or even if you don’t find anything then please get back in touch and we’ll see how else we might help.

I’m sorry but I’m not sure what you mean.

Can you confirm if the mini calendar widget has been embedded outside of a widgetized sidebar?

If that is the case, the workaround is to register and use a new sidebar to function as a container.

    Hi 2litros,

It sounds like you’re trying to embed the mini calendar widget outside of a widgetized sidebar – if that’s the case it will not work (though this has been fixed in our forthcoming release, The Events Calendar 3.0 which will be available soon).

    Hi neptune,

    1. We can’t tell you that, it depends on a huge number of factors. The amount of server resources that are available (are they fixed? Burstable?), the number of peak vistors/sec, the PHP runtime version, whether caching is in use (just a caching plugin, query caching too? etc) all impact here.

    2. I would not expect that having a large number of events would impact on upgrading, though if there was a major schema change possibly it would introduce some challenges.

    3. No word yet, but stay tuned!

OK, thanks for checking back in. I talked to the team about this and it seems a review is scheduled to ensure compatibility going forward, so hopefully a future revision of WooTickets will see this ceasing to be a problem.

OK – if you’re not using a caching plugin or a service such as CloudFlare then that probably isn’t the problem. Bear with me while I check in with the team.
