Oh and every plugin is disabled except for event calendar ones and restricted access, although I can turn it off for a short time if you think it matters.

where do you want these screenshots uploaded to? I have them here http://ge.tt/244XmiN2?c
    Here is what I did.
I created an event and put it in PENDING.
it runs from Sept 10 – Nov 10 and recurs every day until November 10. I have set recurring to 1 month forward.
You can clearly see that something is wrong. sept 10 runs until Nov. 10 then sept 11 runs until Nov 11, etc.
Now, it only created events to October 9, but I will wait to see when the cron runs if the recurring events are duplicated again.
    thanks

Nico, You asked me for a clean wordpress install with no other plugins but yours. That would not point to “Other Plugins” or configuration issues. If you want me to try it with a test environment, and plugins deactivated, and then activated one by one, that would take less time than a total reinstall of my test site.
    thanks

    Nico,
I can try to do that at some point but it is down on my priority list at the moment. Is there a reward for being able to replicate it under your guidelines? 😉 Incentive is always nice.
Basically, Here is how I would try to replicate it. Someone logged in and created a Community event and scheduled it for September 9-October 19. then they checked the recurring box, repeat every day and had it end on October 19. It went to PENDING. In looking at it there was an event for Sept 9 -Oct 19, Sept 10 – Oct. 19, September 11 – Oct 19 etc. Each of those were recurring as well.
    thanks,

Thanks Nico, Yes I am talking about the backend and I will suggest it.
What I mean is: if someone setup an event for Sept 11 – October 12 and then made it recurring, it will make every day of this event recurring, which will then make more recurring events when the Cron runs. I figure that might be how I ended up with 16,000 of 1 event. It just grew slowly, so I didn’t notice until the whole thing came to a halt.

I cannot point to any one event that might have caused this. You would think I would have noticed 16,000 of the same event if it had taken place over months. Or maybe it is more like putting a frog in water and then turning on the heat. Some mistakes were made with other recurring events but they did not create the havoc of this one. I have almost completed cleaning this up and will keep an eye on it more closely this time and hopefully get closer to nailing the cause of this down. At the moment I have nothing for you to go on.
I will take a look at wp-Crontrol because I could not find any cron jobs in CPanel.

That will be fine thanks! You can close this. I will start a new issue if the new version does not fix.
    thanks!

Hi Josh, Yes I have a big issue and I have no idea what happened here. I am just trying to clean up the mess at the moment and want to know On what day of the month does the event calendar create new events for recurring events that were set to NEVER. The first day? I don’t believe that I ever set the settings to create more than 6 months out, but I have played with the settings from time to time. My database just grew out of hand somehow. I have almost delete all these events and will start over and monitor more closely. Only 8,000 to go, down from 23,000. 🙂

    Hi George,
I tried to recreate this scenerio and could not. The entry was made by an anonymous event poster. I will have to wait for it to happen again I suppose, take screenshots and see if I can replicate it. This has happened more than once but not all the time. Perhaps it is a particular sequence. I can hardly disable all the plugins on my live site, but I can try to reproduce it on the test site.
    thanks for your help

Yes, my calendar has created events I do not want. over 635 of them, the same, for one day. and many days after that. This was a NEVER ending event. I set the lookahead to 1 month, so that I could delete them and not get them recreating themselves once I started deleting event that were less than a month out. Let’s say I have the look ahead set to 2 months. I delete everything inside of 2 months and I am left with one month of events. How and when does the app create that second month? If I delete month 2 manually, will it recreate itself? Does that help?

Thanks, That much I understand. I need to know what triggers the app to produce the files 24 months out. I want to delete these and cannot do it through conventional methods, so I need to know WHEN these events are triggered to make an additional month so that it is up to date with the number of months out that were requested. I do not want them recreating themselves after I have deleted them. I have to delete these manually since there are so many I cannot even open the event in question. thanks

ok.. The recurring events are set to update the next “N” months. How does that work? when does that populate in the future? is this some kind of Cron? I need to get it to STOP recreating events which I am trying to delete, if indeed that is what is happening. In some cases I have over 600 events, all the same event, for this one day, of which there are many days like this. I have set it to not create over 1 month in the future for now. But what happens when I delete all the events except that month? Does it kick in and recreate a month out? Make sense?
The problem is I have so many of this one event that I cannot just open it, tell it not to be recurring and save it. The SQL query is just to intensive.
    thank you for your help.

Just a thought. I am thinking that one of these “Duplicate” recurring events may have been overpopulated by allowing someone to put an event in from August 2015 – June 2016 and then call it a recurring event. If that is true, perhaps there is a way to plug that hole. At this point, I would rather duplicate events than set them to recurring at this point. Is there a way to disable Recurring events?
Also, I see that there is no real way to UNDO a recurring event. or change the dates effectively, is this correct?
