ParticipantI may have to do a complete uninstall to fix a problem with the recurring events. I am trying Bulk delete but it may take a year and no promise that the issue will not repeat itself.
IF I uninstall the plugins, will it uninstall the database tables as well? IF not, how can I uninstall the tables as well. I really may need to start over, much as I hate this solution.
You may read the whole saga here. https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/slow-sql-queries/thanks,

MemberHello karen,
Shoot, I am so sorry for the troubles and junk you’ve dealt with here. Performance issues are something we do take very seriously and I’m sorry we failed to deliver for you.
Have you checked out the Event Rocket plugin? There is an option to completely wipe out events data in there that could make this process a lot easier for you. It may still take some time considering the amount of data we’re looking at it, but I think it would be more efficient than the bulk delete route.
Sorry again for the troubles and please let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help here.

ParticipantJust a thought. I am thinking that one of these “Duplicate” recurring events may have been overpopulated by allowing someone to put an event in from August 2015 – June 2016 and then call it a recurring event. If that is true, perhaps there is a way to plug that hole. At this point, I would rather duplicate events than set them to recurring at this point. Is there a way to disable Recurring events?
Also, I see that there is no real way to UNDO a recurring event. or change the dates effectively, is this correct?August 13, 2015 at 7:20 am #995742Geoff
MemberHi karen and thanks for following up!
Excellent questions and you’re absolutely right that setting up a recurring event that way would create a lot of havoc. There are two ways we can limit the damage here:
- Edit the recurring series. If you edit the first event in the series in WordPress, then it will edit the rest of the events in the series as well. So, you can change the recurrence dates there to clean things up, or even delete the entire series and start again without impacting the rest of your events.
- Limit the amount of recurrences. These is an options in Events > Settings in the General Settings section (screenshot) that can help clean things up quit a bit. For example, you can set the option to show only the first event in a recurring series instead of the entire series. You can also tell the plugin to remove past recurring events relative to the current date and set a maximum number of future instances.
To directly answer your question, it is not possible to deactivate recurring events as a whole without fully deactivating The Events Calendar PRO.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions here and I’d be happy to help!
