Hi Trisha, from what I can see, the events are not related by category right now. Where can I find the filters to alter the query? Maybe that would help. Thanks.
May 19, 2017 at 9:28 am in reply to: When event organiser forgot to enter their paypal account… #1286338HuiwenParticipantThanks Cliff. Yes I’ve already had this snippet installed. But even so, people still “ignored” it, as experiences showed. Is it possible to make it more salient, for example, to have the Paypal email entry directly displayed above the submission form, instead of a “button”?
HuiwenParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks for confirming my thoughts and for the suggestions. That’s exactly what I did – created the series first then broke the event one by one and issued the tickets accordingly.
I think I can also use “clone me” to copy the event and changing the date, but still, need to issue new tickets.
I hope that this is something that EC/MT will sort out in the near future. It’s quite pity as “recurrent events” function is such a good adds-on. Pity that tickets can’t go with it.HuiwenParticipantWhat’s the best way to go around this? Do I have to break the event one by one out of the recurrent series, and re-issue the ticket for each event? Or can I replicate the event (instead of making so many copypaste)? Or shall I just leave the Event Organiser’s contact information in the ticket so that the buyer get in contact withe the Event Organiser directly? – That’s really not idea to have the wrong date on each ticket…
HuiwenParticipantSolved.
HuiwenParticipantYes it’s all correct now!
HuiwenParticipantThanks Cliff for the extension, and for updating your KB!
Well it is still not quite right yet:
In the second session – Obtaining Sandbox Credentials for Live Mode – you shall just delete number 4 and 5.1
4. Visit your PayPal Developer Dashboard
5. Click to your REST API app:
1. Look in the upper-right corner for the “Sandbox” / “Live” toggle, and make sure you’re in Live modeREST API is not relevant anymore in Live Mode.
All what matter is to enter the right Client ID from Live App ID sent by Paypal (so go straight into 5.2 and the rest is fine!)HuiwenParticipantI hope my experience can help contribute a bit to the community.
I have however one more followup question: one small issue remains – when the buyer abandons the transaction halfway, and an order is already created in WooCommerce as “pending”, if he/she returns later and wants to purchase again, the person cannot do it with split payment. In the error log, it shows:
[message] => The tracking ID CT-6675 already exists and can’t be duplicated
The person can only do it when the order is deleted / canceled in WooCommerce, either manually or waiting for the system to do it automatically but it takes time.
Is there any way to work around this?
HuiwenParticipantHello Cliff, I have good news: I can finally confirm that split payment works!
May I suggest you updating your knowledge base, as I am now 100% sure it is NOT the client number in the Rest APP / Live mode, as your knowledge base suggested that we should use; but rather, the Live App ID that sent by paypal.
In order to obtain this Live App ID, you will need to apply for it via https://www.paypal-apps.com, and make sure that you apply under the same email as your web admin email account. You also need to make sure that the option “chained payments” is selected. Once paypal approves your application (usually very quick), you will receive an email from Paypal Developer containing the Live App ID. And you should use this number as your Client ID in the split payment in the community events / tickets. The number starts with APP-xxxxxxxx.
HuiwenParticipantCliff, I understand but I’m referring to Live Mode only.
That’s exactly where the confusion is: there are two possibilities for entering Client ID in Live Mode. One is taken from Sandbox Live Mode (as shown in your second link); the other option is to use the Live App ID sent by Paypal (as I showed in my earlier thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/content/uploads/2017/05/f6bb88d117b04b8d.png). These two are different.

HuiwenParticipantCliff, in “Obtaining Sandbox Credentials for Live Mode”, you have the following:
4. Visit your PayPal Developer Dashboard
5. Click to your REST API app
6.1. Look in the upper-right corner for the “Sandbox” / “Live” toggle, and make sure you’re in Live mode
6.2. Enter this Client ID in the wp-admin settings: PayPal client IDAnd this is not the same as the Live App ID that Paypal sent you after approval.
HuiwenParticipantOk thanks Barry for the clarification. I used the Paypal Live App ID that approved by them, and still had the 550001 error message. I haven’t heard back from Paypal yet.
Note that in your knowledge base (or the thread that Cliff referred to), under “How to obtain Live credentials (for real money)”, 6.1 and 6.2 state the following:
6.1 Look in the upper-right corner for the “Sandbox” / “Live” toggle, and make sure you’re in Live mode
6.2 Enter this Client ID in the wp-admin settings: PayPal client IDThat’s where the confusion is and that’s why I kept saying that your knowledge base is misleading.
HuiwenParticipantBut there are two Live IDs: one is the one in Sandbox Live mode, as described in your knowledge base; the other one is the Live App ID approved by Paypal. Which one should I use?
HuiwenParticipantI’ve read all your knowledge base AND the relevant threads including this one and it didn’t answer my questions. I’d appreciate you read my questions again and please confirm, in particular, the second one regarding Paypal Client ID. Thanks.
