ParticipantTim,
I’ll pass this feedback along to our developer for them to review. Since this is our first serious attempt at spam protection with Community, we’ll be aiming to improve this with each release.I know that there are plugins that allow you to approve user registrations. Here’s one that looks pretty good, although I can’t verify it’s usefulness as I’ve never used it.
I know that’s not an ideal scenario, but hopefully as our spam protection gets better with each new release, you won’t need to do this.
Hope that helps!
Casey
ParticipantGreat! Since it’s looks like this got you sorted, I’m going to mark this thread “Answered” and close it out.
We really appreciate your support and please let us know if you need anything else in the future. If you find yourself with a few minutes and would be so kind as to give us a “Works” rating or a positive star voting on the WordPress.org repo (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar/), or even a shoutout to your followers on Facebook or Twitter, it would mean a lot to us. Thanks again for using the plugin.

ParticipantMarmotte73,
I’d be happy to help you out with this. The Community Submission form uses your WordPress date/time settings. So, just go to your main WordPress settings and change your time format to 24h, like this: http://d.pr/i/t0NtJust let me know if that does the trick for you. Thanks!

ParticipantYes, definitely! Here’s what you’ll see when you have PRO + Community: http://d.pr/i/HNxl
Hope that helps, but let me know if you have further questions. Thanks!
Casey
ParticipantJonathan,
Yes, that’s because when those events were initially created using the visual editor, the description was saved as HTML. If you continue to use the non-Visual editor for adding/editing events, then I would suggest editing out the HTML for existing events. You should only have to do this for events that were submitted with the Visual Editor, since no HTML will be submitted using the non-visual editor.I hope that helps to answer your question. Thanks!

ParticipantKyle,
Do you have any ECP template overrides in your theme directory? Check to see if there is a folder called ‘tribe-events’ in your theme directory. I suspect that you have some older template files in there that might be causing this warning.Casey
ParticipantJonathan,
Thanks for reaching out! Have you tried activating the default Twenty Thirteen theme to see if this issue still persists? Give that a try so we can determine if the issue lies with your current theme.October 12, 2013 at 8:50 am in reply to: Strange Template Path Issue, Looking for a 'Hooks' folder #70729Casey
ParticipantKyle,
Have you upgraded The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro to 3.1 also? If not, then go ahead and do that and let me know if the problem persists. Thanks!Casey
ParticipantIn order to do this, you’d need to install some kind of plugin that allows you to modify the Capabilities that each role has access to. There are many plugins that do this, but my personal favorite is the Members plugin.
After installing this, you’d need to modify the ‘Contributor’ role to remove the ‘Edit Post’ capability (http://d.pr/i/hqYy).
Then assign a user to the ‘Contributor’ role and when they login they should only see ‘Events’ in the menu, like this: http://d.pr/i/LMmj
Hope that helps! Just let me know if you have further questions.

ParticipantJared,
It looks like this is definitely an issue and will be fixed in the next release, so thanks for bringing it to our attention. Our developers mentioned that if you have WP_DEBUG turned off, then you won’t see this message (which is probably why only a few users have reported this), and the doesn’t affect the plugin’s functionality. So, we’ll definitely have this fixed in the next release. Thanks again for bringing it to our attention!

I just wanted to check back in and see if you were able to update the plugin, and if you noticed a difference in the amount of spam submissions. Thanks!Casey
ParticipantNeil,

ParticipantThomas,
I’m noticing that another user has this same issue and he’s using the same theme as you on his site (http://floridayogainstructorassociation.org/events/calendar/add). I would suggest reaching out to the theme developer to see if they can help you sort this one out, since it seems to be a common issue with the theme you’re using.Let me know what you discover about the issue you’re having logging in, so I can help further if needed. Thanks!
