MemberNo problem at all, happy to help ๐
I’ll close out this thread in that case – but of course if anything else crops up please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Last but not least, we’re always keen to hear about people’s experiences with The Events Calendar and if you’d like to leave a note on our plugin review page we’d certainly appreciate it.
Thanks again!

MemberHi there aircan1,
Thanks for the link ๐
Something certainly seems to be amiss, but I don’t actually see quite the same thing as you reported. Are you seeing the same console errors you referenced previously on that very same page, or would I need to navigate to some other page/view to see them?
I’m not seeing the flash of the filters, either – but it does seem that, with your theme, once opened they don’t display correctly and can’t be closed again: yet that doesn’t seem to be what you have described.
Can you confirm which browser(s) you see this issue with?

MemberHi gogreaterreading,
That’s a great question.
Currently the submission form cannot be edited from WordPress’s admin screens, but it is certainly possible to override and customize individual templates.
We’ve got a great summary of this process in our Themer’s Guide – does that help at all?

MemberHi there – I’m sorry you’re hitting up against difficulties.
I took a look at your site and found at least one single event page, complete with ticket form, and was able to progress through to the cart page.
Does this only impact a limited number of single event pages and can you point me to a specific example?
Barry
MemberHi there Nicole,
Great question!
The plugin is certainly translatable (and in fact ships with translations for a whole bunch of different languages).
However, though I’m not sure if this is what you mean, you can’t for instance set up different event descriptions – each in a different language – for the same event – at least not without the assistance of a suitable and compatible third party plugin.
Does that answer your question?
October 20, 2014 at 3:47 pm in reply to: Event Description preview showing Visual Composer code #822743Barry
MemberHi – I’m sorry you’re hitting difficulties.
By default the events list displays an excerpt (which may be generated automatically) and this would not normally include any shortcodes.
However, I wouldn’t expect valid shortcodes to display at all in this situation: that makes me think that, although what you shared looks like a nest of shortcodes, it is actually something bespoke that only your theme/visual composer plugin understands.
Can you confirm which theme or plugin you are using that implements this?
In the default template used within list view to display an individual event we are, ultimately, using nothing more exotic than WordPress’s the_excerpt() function – can you confirm with the vendor of your theme/plugin if there is some better approach?

MemberHi!
It’s difficult to say, but my guess would be that the global post object is not pointing to an event when this bit of code runs. If you echo out or otherwise inspect the value of $startdate what do you see?

MemberHi!
We can’t always provide in-depth support for customizations, but I’d be happy to explore this a little with you and see if we can point you in the right direction.
So, in this case, can you try swapping out your reference to tribeHideRecurrence with hide_upcoming … does that help at all?

MemberHi musician4you,
I’m sorry you are experiencing difficulties.
Can you confirm which roles you chose to block and – though I’m sure you did this – confirm that you also checked the Block access to WordPress dashboard checkbox, in addition to the individual roles?
YES, I’ve deactivated all other plugins to check for a plugin conflict.
Thanks so much for giving that a try – it’s genuinely appreciated ๐
If the above doesn’t help, though, could you try running through our complete troubleshooting steps in case there is a conflict with your theme?
Thanks – and let me know how you get on!

MemberHi there aircan1,
Sorry to hear you’ve been hitting up against difficulties.
I’m having a little trouble finding your main events page – have you deactivated The Events Calendar, or else can you point me to the correct URL? (Feel free to use our private reply facility when sharing this, if you’d rather it stay hidden.)
Thanks!

MemberHi capstone,
all the listings I created are missing. When viewing with standard events listing, they are all there.
So, just to clarify, the problem is that you can’t see any events within the admin environment but you can see them on the front-end of the site?
If so is it possible you accidentally applied a filter? On the list of events page, can you look at the Filters & Columns meta box above the list and hit the Clear button – does that help?

MemberHi amirdoit,
I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing difficulties,
Can you confirm in the first instance that The Events Calendar (and Events Calendar PRO) are installed and activated?
Let me know!

MemberHi there nilskau,
I’m stoked to hear you love the plugin, but naturally we’re a bit concerned about the problem you’ve reported.
Thanks also for including so much information straight away, particularly about the number of events on your site and the fact that you experienced this with almost no traffic.
Fri Oct 17 20:03:38 2014] [error] [client 66.162.212.19] LONG QUERY (1028 characters long generated in /nas/wp/www/cluster-2250/hipica/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/tribe-event-query.class.php:841):
Thatโs only one example โ there are many more in the error log.
The first thing I am wondering is if all or most of the errors/warnings relate to the same LONG QUERY issue?
We also moved the site to WPengine, to test. They helped us again to investigate the problem, and also came to the conclusion that Events Calendar is the reason for queries and performance issues.
You’ve obviously spent some time troubleshooting and so may very well have done this, but I’d just like to be sure: did you find the same performance issues surfaced even with no other plugins and only a stock theme (such as Twenty Fourteen) running?
The reason I ask is that other plugins – and some themes – may modify queries which, on occasion, can have unintended consequences.
