    Hi Josh,

You’re right they are current, ongoing events. Part of the problem was also that I hadn’t taken on board the difference in the way the Month View is displayed on mobile, with today’s events listed below the calendar, compared to how it is displayed on the desktop, with the events displayed in the today’s cell in the table.

Looking at it again, it occurs to me that on mobile, the “See all x” events is not really necessary. It’s there on desktop to limit the number of events appearing in any given cell, but on mobile, as the events are displayed below the table, it seems to be adding an extra step with no real advantage. Why not just display all of today’s events directly below the table? Is purely for performance reasons?

Would it be possible to arrange for the “See all events” link not to appear on mobile? Alternatively, perhaps it would be possible to have a different “Month view events per day” setting for mobile and desktop.

    Cheers,
    Keith

    Hi Geoge,

Thanks for the help. I’m still confused by this. Setting aside the SuperSocialier plugin, I can’t understand how the default-template.php script is working. As a test, I simply replaced it with a null file [cat /dev/null > default-template.php]. That had no effect at all.

As a further test, I did the same thing with month.php in that directory, and that did have the expected result, i.e. the Month View didn’t work at all.

I think if I can find out why modifying default.template.php is having no effect, or if I should be modifying an alternate file, I’d be able to carry on with the SuperSocializer stuff myself.

    Cheers,
    Keith

    Hi George,

Thanks for the help. The plugin does have settings to allow the sharing bar to placed on most of the pages, like this. That puts the bar on the individual event pages. What I’m trying to do is put it on the overview pages: the month, list, photo, etc. views.

I thought the template to alter might be default-template.php. I first modified it per the Themer’s Guide. When that didn’t work, I tried modifying the source. When that still didn’t seem to be having any effect, I saved the file as an empty document. That still made no difference. I’m thinking now that I must be modifying the wrong file.

    Hi Josh,

I’ve deactivated WPML and updated to 3.12.6, but I’m still seeing the problem.

    Hi Nico,

Pleased to hear that a developer is getting involved. Hopefully we’ll have some progress soon.

Regarding triggering the import, it doesn’t matter how many events you have, the import won’t run unless somebody actually accesses the site, i.e. unless somebody types http://www.yoursite.com into a browser.

Wordpress cron doesn’t work the same way as Unix cron. You can tell it to run a job every hour, but it won’t do it. It only checks the cron list when somebody access the site.

One way to ensure that the import is triggered is to set up a site to monitor it hourly, for example this one https://visualping.io/ That will access your site once an hour, thereby triggering the import.

    Hi Barry,

I’m using Chrome on a Nexus 5. I tested it on the WPShindig site.

For example, I’m not able to select more than 1 tag. I can select a tag, and then the bar closes. I have time to touch another box before the bar closes, and the line containing the box is highlighted, but no check-mark appears in the box. If I re-open drop-down it and deselect the tag, the drop-down closes after the de-selection. It seems to be permitting just one operation at a time.

I’ll have a read through the Chosen documentation. Thanks for the link.

    Cheers,
    Keith

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to add that this seems to be related to this thread. The problem seems pretty widespread.

    Hi Nico,

It hasn’t produced any duplicates for about 12 hours. I’ll keep any eye on it and upload the details and a dump here if it starts again.

Just one thing to mention, that I’m sure you’re aware of: if you have a test system set up to import every hour, the imports won’t actually run unless you access the site once an hour. The way WP Cron works is that it will only check the job queue when somebody accesses the site. So if nobody access the site for, say, 8 hours, then no imports will run during 8 hours.

    Cheers,
    Keith

    Hi Nico,

I have a test system that is currently creating duplicates, strangely it’s creating duplicates for past events. You’re welcome to log-in and investigate. It’s a test system and I have a backup, so no damage can be done.

    Keith

    Hi Josh,

The screenshot is from twentyfifteen. It’s a very basic install.

    Hi Nico,

I think you should be able to reproduce the error by using the pages I gave you and setting your system clock back to the morning of October 25 (CET). That way you would have exactly the same set-up I had. If it doesn’t work I can try to set up a system for you, if you’d like.

    Hi Cliff,

That fixed it,thanks. I seemed to recall that the same thing baffled me the first time around. I should have remembered.

I have one other quick question. Please let me know if I should open a separate thread. I noticed here here Brian mentioned a new hook for Facebook imports. Do you know when we’ll get a fuller list of what’s included in the version 4.0? I have read the blog post, but a list of new hooks would be useful as I’m doing a bit of tinkering with the code.

    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Nico,

Just wondering if you managed to replicate the problem.
