ParticipantHi Nico,
I was importing directly to the published status.
The list of pages I gave you is not currently creating new duplicates. The date of those events that were duplicated has passed. However, if you set the system clock of your test system back to the morning of October 25 (CET), I think you should be able to reproduce exactly what I saw.

ParticipantHi Brian,
Thanks for this. I’m sure it’s beyond the call of duty! This shot shows what I’m trying to achieve. I want to eliminate the search box altogether. It looks strange but my idea is to see if I can combine the View As drop-down and the Filter Bar into a single element. This would be the first step.

ParticipantHi Brian,
That’s fixed it.
Thanks for your help,

ParticipantThis is how the number in the events of database has grown throughout the day. Of the new events, only half a dozen or so are genuinely new events.
There are 7 duplicates (actually, at this point, 7 sets of octuplets). They are re-added to the database on each import. The 7 source Facebook events have each been modified on Facebook.
So, in this test, we can say that every event that has caused duplicates has had a Facebook modification. Whether or not there are events on Facebook that have been modified but haven’t caused duplicates, I don’t know.

ParticipantHi George,
This still doesn’t seem to be working as expected. I don’t know if I’m missing something. This is how it looks on twentyfifteen.
Thanks,
KeithKeith
ParticipantI seem to be getting more duplicates on the twentyfifteen site, than I have on the other site. The event that was duplicated with two different slugs, is now being duplicated on each import. Each of the duplicated events is itself being duplicated.
For some reason, the events that are being duplicated are not being ticked in the Import Events Page, even after being imported multiple times. I don’t know if that’s a symptom of the problem, or something to do with the cause of it.

ParticipantI’ve set the auto-import to one hour, and I seem to be getting more duplicates on each iteration. I’ll post the list of pages I’m importing. You should be able to replicate the problem on a clean install of WP twentyfifteen.
Keith
ParticipantI’m having this problem, too. I’m seeing many duplicates on the site I’m setting up. As a test, I set up a new clean twentyfifteen site, and added the same pages to be imported. Although the new site is seeing some duplicates, it’s not seeing as many as the original site.
I think one cause is the Facebook page owner updating the event on Facebook. This event, for example was updated. It has two posts, and appears twice in the calendar. The Facebook page says that the photo was updated, but it looks like they also changed the title. Because the title has changed, the two events each have their own slug. On the other site, most of the duplicates have not had a title change, so their slugs have a “-2” appended like this:
event/actuacion-de-el-showmancero
event/actuacion-de-el-showmancero-2-

ParticipantHi George,
Thanks for that. I had spent some time with the Chrome Inspector, but I’m never 100% sure that I’m targeting what I want, and only what I want, so I thought I’d check to see if there were any documentation.
I’ve tried the examples you gave. The one for changing the arrow was spot on, but the one for removing the search bar hasn’t had any effect.

ParticipantThanks, Josh. That’s fixed it. I was using the entire slug.

ParticipantHi George,
It’s all good now, no remaining issues. I forgot to change the button to “My issue is resolved in my above reply”.

ParticipantThis one, it accepts, so I’m wondering if it’s the accented characters on the others that it is objecting to.
