This also seems to be causing problems with venues. In the above event, I created a new venue called La Andaluza Bar. I subsequently tried to add another event using the same venue. When I searched for it in the list of existing venues, it didn’t find it. When I tried to add it again as a new venue, it wouldn’t allow me to add it because it is an existing venue.

I had the same problem when I created the original event which I mentioned in my post above. The bar is actually called La Andaluza (without bar on the end). When I recreated the recurring event to investigate the “too many redirects” problem, and the only-one occurrence problem, I had to create a new venue called “La Andaluza Bar”.

Now that I’m creating a third event for that venue, I’m going to have to give it another fictitious name.

The issue with the too many redirects seems as though it might be browser related, possibly something to do with caching. If I open the event in a different browser, or in an incognito window, I don’t get the “too many redirects” error, but I do still have the problem of it showing only 1 event in the series.

I have set up some other recurring events, such as this one, which don’t have this problem, which do correctly appear multiple times in the calendar, but they still only display one occurrence when clicking “Ver todos”

I’m also having problems with recurring events. I haven’t checked yet if it’s related to WPML, but I do have WPML installed.

This is an example of a recurring event I created. If you click on the “ver todos” link, you get a “too many redirects” error, with the event trying to redirect to this page

    http://www.enjoyandalucia.com/event/english-spanish-conversation-with-carmen-3/?lang=es%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2Fall%2F

There is only one event in the calendar. The subsequent events don’t appear.

I recreated the event here. Initially, it had exactly the same problem. Clicking the “ver todos” link resulted in the above error. However, that behaviour has now changed, without me making any changes to the event, or to anything else. Now when I click on “Ver todos” it shows a screen with just one one occurrence of the event in the calendar.

This is the how I set it up

The checkbox to show only the first occurrence of repeating events is unchecked.

    Hi George,

Thanks for the response. It seems counter-intuitive that an event called tribe_events_facebook_event_created fires when events are not created, and when the database has not been altered in any way. I haven’t been able to find any documentation on the event.

The context is that I add categories and custom data to Facebook events as they are created, based on the organizerID. I don’t want that data to be duplicated when the resynch button is clicked. I’ve coded around the difficulty now so this thread can be closed.

Just to add that the event is fired every time the button is clicked, even if the event on Facebook is identical to the event in the calendar and no changes are made.

I’d also like to see this. I’d like to see a way of automatically checking for events which need resynchronization. To be frank, I’m disappointed that the option doesn’t exist.

I know your standard response to all of these things is “Raise a User Voice ticket”, but the fact that that you implemented the resynch button without resynch-all or automated resynch options implies that you didn’t really think it through.

As far as I can see, there is no way I will know that an event needs resynching, and in cases such as this one, I won’t even see the event. That means either yet more customizations or going through every event, every day, including passed events, and clicking the resynch button just in case.

I see from this thread that I can resync events using the resynch button. Since posting the above message, I’ve found another event in a similar state. It seems to be quite common for organisers with repeating events to update a single event. As far as I can see, there is no way for me to spot events which need synchronizing. I will have to either check every event individually, or go through every event, including passed ones, clicking the button just in case.

    Hi Geoff,

When you say WPML does not work with Facebook Events, do you mean:

    a) Facebook Events doesn’t work with WPML becaue it contains no code to support it
    b) Facebook Events does contain code to support WPML but that code is not working.

The reason I ask is that it looks to me as though it should be fairly straightforward for me to add code to create a duplicate WPML event for any event imported by Facebook Events. WPML has hooks such as wpml_admin_make_post_duplicates for just that purpose.

However Facebook Events is already duplicating most of the events it imports. It creates duplicates but it does set them up as translations of each other. They are imported as distinct, unique events. That means that if I add code to create duplicates using the WPML hook, I will end up with 4 events for each event imported by Facebook Events.

If you could answer the question above it would help me dig further into what is happening.

I’ll also create a User Voice request post a link here, for anyone who may come across this thread in the future.

    Keith

    Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the response. I’m just trying to get a handle on where things are with the Facebook plugin and WPML. I’m spending a lot of time trying to get to the bottom of various problems that I’m seeing. If these are already known bugs, then it’s probably not worth me continuing to investigate them.

You mentioned in the other thread that work is actively under way on WPML problems with Pro and Tickets plus. I’m trying to get a feeling for whether you are aware of specific issues with the Facebook Importer and WPML, and whether there is any likelihood of work being carried out to fix them. I know that you won’t commit to anything.

    Hi George,

I’ll look into writing something myself using update_post_meta but I’m thinking it might be easier to duplicate the existing code.

For example, I’ve created an Additional Filed called provincia. That means that for any event I can manually add that field, like this: http://pasteboard.co/1kg82B0J.png.

If you can point me to the code that gets executed when that field is updated, I think that might be the quickest way forward.
