    Thank you Nico,
We are still looking into why the ical isn’t working on our site.
However I am not sure if this is going to be the right method for us. What we really need is to be able to give our partners an RSS feed address so that they can display events we have recorded onto their site. So (to use your demo site) something like http://wpshindig.com/venue/warrandyte-primary-school/rss OR http://wpshindig.com/venue/warrandyte-primary-school/feed as per the
Is this possible? Or can you think of another way. We are happy to pay for all our licences but they aren’t convinced and not all are on WordPress.
    Regards

Thank you for coming back to me Nico.

I’ve added that to the functions.php, but the script isn’t showing up on the site. The function doesn’t have any obvious flaws, so I suspect the reason it’s not appearing yet is an issue with the hosting – this kind of thing happens with irritating frequency on GoDaddy. We’ll have to check it out later.

However, I’m pretty certain that the script won’t solve the problem.

It removes/replaces the AJAX trigger for when someone clicks the “next” or “previous” buttons, but (unless I’m mistaken) it won’t prevent the automatic AJAX reload that happens the moment the user visits the page. As a result, each time they click one of those buttons that script will cause the page to load properly (without AJAX), complete with ads, and then the ads will be removed again by AJAX. I’m also pretty sure that the script won’t prevent the AJAX reload when people update the filters.

I guess we could write a script which listens for AJAX requests, compares the request url with the current window.location, then updates the window.location if the two don’t match, but that does seem like a pretty backwards way to handle it!

Any other ideas that would be less awkward?

    Hi Cliff,

Thanks for that info, those were exactly the bits we were trying to find. That made it easy to add the html for the ads into the response, but unfortunately it turns out that wasn’t the main problem!

It turns out that Google AdSense doesn’t allow ads to be reloaded via AJAX because it’d be an easy way for people to artificially increase their ad revenue. It looks like there may be ways to get around the restriction, but it’d naturally take more time for us to understand what needs to be done.

A simpler solution to save all that time would be to turn off the AJAX reload in the tribe plugin completely. We can’t find anything in the plugin options; is this something you’ve built in to the plugin at all?

    Hi Cliff,
Apologise for not coming back sooner. It is an urgent problem and have been patiently waiting for a response but obviously hadn’t ticked the “Notify me of follow-up replies” box. So my fault for being so slow, sorry!

So maybe I need to clarify a bit more…
We need to insert ads into the standard events listing – this page: http://www.funferret.co.uk/events/ – and they need to be placed in between the listed events. At the moment the ads do load successfully, but immediately after the page loads there is an ajax reload which strips out the ads.

Could you let us know how to fix this? It might save us a lot of time if you were able to tell us where the html for the ajax response is generated so that we can add the ads to that as well.
Interestinglt though on Venue or Oriniser pages they do work (http://www.funferret.co.uk/venue/st-michaels-church-hall/)

After Updating Avada Theme (which now clearly sells itself as being Events Calendar compatible) it changed a lot of layouts and themeing we had done to the plugin. We then rolled the site back several times (hosted at GoDaddy), after which the URLs to a specific event stopped working as per my previous posts.
After much hair pulling, it appears to be that when I allow the Avada upgrade to occur, the URL’s work again. I am not clear on why this happens even after rolling back, however it seems to be some connection between Events Calendar and Avada.
I am just sharing this in case anyone else has the same problem.

    Hi Brian,
The reason its showing that is because of the bug I previously mentioned “As a slightly separate point, when I go to edit the event the start times to the recurrences default to 08:00 which if not noticed can create the whole series being incorrect.”
So if you look at the live event, it is correct. It is showing the incorrect time because I have opened the event to take the screen shot for you. However it is not this bug that is my primary concern, its the link not working.

Some very strange results. When I set it to start and finish 29/08/2015 with a recurrence of “Every day and will end On 2/9/2015” it only creates the one entry on the 29th.
When I then select “See all” I get a 404 page (search the events for “English Country weekend”!

I have also created several test events, all with the same results.

However I have noticed something that might be a clue as to what is going on…when you hover over the “See all” link it says “Every day until 9th Feb 2015”. Which is obviously not correct. What seems to be happening is it takes the date entry of 2/9/2015 and converts it to US format which would be 9/2/2015.
We have not made any changes to any calendar settings since install months ago so must assume it has taken place over the recent updates.
As this means we are unable to put in any entries (which we do daily) we would really appreciate some urgency to the fix.

Thanks for coming back so quickly Josh.
Oddly that link works fine for me, but here is another http://www.funferret.co.uk/event/english-country-weekend-at-the-farm/2015-08-29/
So if you “See All” it only shows the last 2 and not the one on the 29th.
As you rightly pointed out, all events added a while ago seem to work fine its the ones we have added today..here as another http://www.funferret.co.uk/event/passion-for-power-classic-motor/2015-08-22/
so the 22nd event does not show.

    Hi Geoff,
Thanks again for coming back to me so promptly. I do have some confusion and further questions..
    1. If we add a venue and then go back at a later date and update using the import function (as it is intended) and that process changes a settings (removing the map, that was not requested), surely that is a bug that needs fixing?

    2. As a venue is rarely, by definition, going to change its address I think it fair to assume it would typically be the details or photo that an administrator would want to update, however these are the two bits that you can not update.

    3. So on the basis you are unable to add all the details on an initial import (as it requires you to manually go in and add an image and description), you also can not use it to update details as you would again be required to manually go in and reset the map function to every entry. I need to ask..what is the purpose of the venue import?

I am trying not to come across as facetious or agitated. I have asked support several questions and they all end up with “why not make this a feature request”. When I have asked to pay you (over and above for paying for all the add-ons we have purchased) for further support, you responded by referring me to other companies that support your plugin. After contacting them I can confirm they either are not taking on work or no longer exist.

In order to work around things like not being able to show a list of venues we have installed other modules that require us to do double entry http://www.funferret.co.uk/places/things-to-do-in-cheshire/ of items and more shockingly turn off (downgrading using experience) functions we want, like “map zooming on scroll” and “geolocation” in order for it to feel similar to your plugin http://www.funferret.co.uk/events/, which seems a shame not use these great functions on other modules.

I am not being angry or abusive. I have experienced some great support from wordpress plugin providers over the years for their plugins, even ones that are free.
Please please please, can you help me out. I really am genuinely pleading for you to help, I am happy to pay you or someone else to help fix this bug, add geolocation, list venues and fix map scrolling, even though we paid for the pro “updates and support”. We cant keep posting stuff as a “request” and hope it is picked to get done one day.
I really want a good relationship with you as a provider and work partner on a very important project for us.
    Please help me out.
    Regards
    James

Thanks for coming back to me on this so promptly Geoff.
Unfortunately I think I maybe missing something, as when I try to import venues I only have a few options (from the drop down) to try and marry up to the columns in my csv and “map” is not one of them. I have re-watched the video and looked for an example csv but still confused.
Are there other columns we can include in the csv that auto maps against the map “1” and “0” selection you mentioned.
Are there also column headers we can use to import the “description” for a venue?
