ParticipantHi Cliff,
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Two examples spring to mind, the first is Ipswich Jazz Festival who run a series of events at different locations:
https://www.facebook.com/pg/ipswichjazzfestival
This is as we would expect it.And The Wild Man – a pub who run weekly live music nights:

On the screen print attached the first six have been edited manually but the rest are as they are imported.If you need anything else let me know.

ParticipantThank you Hunter,
I was told it was vanilla tested (!) I may have to re-visit that one myself. I will carry out the tests personally and keep you updated. However, this isn’t going to be quick so bear with me if it all goes quiet for a while.

ParticipantThank you Nico – that works perfectly.

ParticipantThank you for your help Nico but I had already tried using that CSS snippet in customizer, I don’t think it works like you had hoped! I added the following code:
.type-tribe_events.tribe-event-featured {
background-color: #990099;
}to turn the background purple but just got a blue background and a purple underline… see attached
Tony Bell
ParticipantJust spotted that it is any event ticked with the new Featured Event option that appears with a blue background. I am in the middle of marking our work-around events with the new feature so it is a great help to me in knowing which ones are marked correctly !! Unfortunatelt I still need to change the background colour!

ParticipantWhilst the default times offered show hour and half-hour slots I have successfully added and published an event which starts at 08:12 and finishes at 17:13 just by typing in the time.
Tony Bell
ParticipantHi Nico, thank you for your prompt response.
I added the snippet to style.css and edited the category id but the ‘Featured’ category is still displayed to community event editors.

ParticipantHi Cliff, thank you for your response.
My point was that I was upgrading to the latest version and the upgrade failed. Neither time nor logistics mean I can revert to testing with a stripped down site on TwentySixteen – however I fully understand the reasoning behind your suggestion.
The following has worked for me: (after a full backup – obviously!)
Deactivate Community Events
Delete Community Events
Download clean version of Community Events 4.2 from Modern Tribe
Install new version and activate – worked!
Rebuild permalinksAll seems in order now.

ParticipantThank you Nico,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you. That worked fine.

ParticipantYep that helps a lot George, it confirms what I thought and has narrowed down where I need to look for a solution.

ParticipantThanks Geoff, will do.

ParticipantNo Geoff, the link you provided was to “Hide past events”, I actually want to delete them to keep the size of may database manageable. I’m adding over 1,000 events per month and don’t want to get to December and find I have a database of 11,000 useless events and 3,000 future events, which is what hiding them would do.

ParticipantThank you Geoff, I’ve now had a chance to try this and whilst it does delete expired posts it does so by adding an addition field which I would need to populate for the plugin to do what I am trying to achieve.
What I am trying to achieve is to automatically delete events based on their end date or 24 hours after their start date if start/end are the same. To have to add an additional expiration date to an event that already has an end date is not acceptable, not with the volume of events we are handling, sorry.
Whilst I can work around the issue with the core Events Calendar, the ability to delete past events would make an already great product even better.

ParticipantThanks Geoff – I’ll have a look and see if it will do what we need and let you know.

ParticipantFinally bit the bullet and up-ed PHP memory to 512M and all seems to be working fine.
