CE upgrade to 4.2 failed

    Hi folks, just set about upgrading TEC as follows:

    The Events Calendar from version 4.1.3 to 4.2
    The Events Calendar Pro from version 4.1.2 to 4.2
    The Events Calendar: Community Events from version Original to 4.2
    The Events Calendar: Facebook Events from version 4.1 to 4.2
    The Events Calendar: Filter Bar from version 4.1 to 4.2

    All went well EXCEPT the CE upgrade failed.

    I checked the effect and it appears that if a user adds an event despite selecting a venue, no venue is available when the event is viewed by admin for approval.

    I have restored all five plugins to their pre-upgrade status.

    Hi Tony. Thanks for your detailed question and your business!

    On the latest version of WordPress and all Modern Tribe plugins with TwentySixteen theme, I couldn’t reproduce that Community Events issue (that the Venue selected at time of submitting CE form doesn’t make it through to the wp-admin Events edit screen).

    Please update to the latest versions (staging site if you have to) and make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions:

    Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

    Let us know what you find out.

    Hi Cliff, thank you for your response.

    My point was that I was upgrading to the latest version and the upgrade failed. Neither time nor logistics mean I can revert to testing with a stripped down site on TwentySixteen – however I fully understand the reasoning behind your suggestion.

    The following has worked for me: (after a full backup – obviously!)
    Deactivate Community Events
    Delete Community Events
    Download clean version of Community Events 4.2 from Modern Tribe
    Install new version and activate – worked!
    Rebuild permalinks

    All seems in order now.
