Colin CarmichaelParticipantWell, that’s great but the Facebook import issue has rendered my site useless.
Colin CarmichaelParticipantThese are scheduled imports. I went through and cleaned up all of the other
duplicates and did notice that most (if not all?) were FB recurring
events. If that’s a big, it’s a serious one for me. I am subscribed to
over 300 local pages l, many of which post recurring events.Colin CarmichaelParticipantWell, there are several pages that do it – but not always. Here’s one of them: https://www.facebook.com/www.giddyupandgoponies/
Apparently my event log was disabled… so I’ve enabled it and will keep an eye on it. Everything looks good on the status, though my import count looks higher than it should be.
Colin CarmichaelParticipantSIX weeks later, and all I had to do was uncheck the “Include events in main blog loop” option? No extension necessary. No-one over there could have suggested this a month ago? This is a plugin I PAY for and generate revenue from – when it works… so very frustrated.
Colin CarmichaelParticipantSoooo…. next week, then?
Colin CarmichaelParticipantAny updates? I still have no events on my homepage…
Colin CarmichaelParticipantAny updates? I’ve had no events on my homepage for DAYS!
Colin CarmichaelParticipantThis has worked this way for over a year, and I have made no changes to the theme. I use the “primary method” to display my events on my home page — and that is working correctly because you can see the calendar content there – but it says no results found. The only change has been the plugin updates.
Colin CarmichaelParticipantThis is not a unique situation at all. I have MANY instances where 2 or 3 community organizations co-sponsor events and they are each listed as organizers. The events themselves do have unique IDs, so they are not duplicated within FB. In my experience, the aggregator handles this well… often I will subscribe to a new page that is a co-organizer of an already subscribed page… the shared event shows as ‘updated’ rather than new on import.
However, I do get lots of duplicate events from FB imports and wonder if this is related.
Here’s an example of the same event (with the same FB ID) being imported twice:
https://huron.buzz/event/winterfest-sports-memorabilia-day-silent-auction-in-goderich/
https://huron.buzz/event/winterfest-sports-memorabilia-day-silent-auction-in-goderich-2/This event has 4 organizers, so it’s clearly not a simple X organizer = X duplicates.
Hope this helps.Colin CarmichaelParticipantUnfortunately, I don’t see a Merge Duplicates option on my General Settings
page. Also, there’s nothing in that KB article about how to enable APM on
the venue and organizer pages…Colin CarmichaelParticipantThat suggestion is great and I’ve now voted for it. I was hoping, though, that there was an undocumented URL param for “end date” that I could use myself. What I’m trying to do is print (yes, on paper) just “This week’s events”.
Colin CarmichaelParticipantI had the same epoch (Jan 1 1970) issue happen on 3 of my imports today. I started to manually change them, but then discovered that if I set the update authority to “overwrite” rather than my usual “preserve local changes” and then re-run the import, the dates get corrected.

I had assumed since I didn’t see anything in the changelog that we were still in limbo on this bug. Thanks for getting this fixed so quickly — I can now officially launch!
Colin CarmichaelParticipantBingo! Thanks very much Caroline!
