ParticipantHowdy mightymen,
This is funky. Thanks for posting all of your testing and steps to reproduce. That really helps.
Would it be possible for you to test if this if this is something on your site that might be conflicting. This guide will walk you through that short process. If something is, it then walks you through identifying what is conflicting. Once we know that we can work towards a fix. Specifically when testing, try recreating an event and seeing if the date is still wrong. It is likely that events which already have the wrong date will stay wrong even after we find a fix, so they can be ignored/deleted.
Please let me know if you have any questions along the way. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy mikey,
Unfortunately there is no easy way to do what you want. If you are fluent in PHP you could likely accomplish that with a little bit of trickery and an iframe. You would want to remove all of the outer template when you called it through an iframe, perhaps by adding a query var and hooking into the WP theme functions.
That is one of our currently popular feature requests though. You should vote it up. Every vote counts.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers!

ParticipantIt is no hassle.
What did you find out? Did you receive emails from WP when people registered. Refer to my above post on those troubleshooting steps and what to do next. Cheers!

ParticipantApologies for my delay in responding.
Categories appear on the event page itself. Click through to an event and you will see in the post meta section which caategory it is filed under. You can click on that category and it will take you to all events listed in the category. And of course you can link to those category pages from anywhere WordPress lets you link to stuff.
The filterbar will only appear on events list pages, like the upcoming events page, or the Month view.

ParticipantHey Dylan, good question. That ability listed in our 3.7 changelog is not going to help you do what you want here. While it is a good improvement and will make stuff like this easier, what you want specifically will still require a CSS class on the element.
If you have had a chance to recommend that as a feature, make sure to post a copy of it here. That way if anyone else who wants the feature sees it they can easily vote it up. Let me know if there is anything else. Thanks!

ParticipantAwesome! Glad to hear it, Simon.
By the way, if you have a minute or two, we would love it if you could write a few words about the plugin here. Happy developing!

ParticipantNo worries, Marica!
Go to WP Admin > Settings > Discussion, and look for the section “E-mail me whenever”. If you check the box to be notified of new posts, then while logged in as a new user you make a post WP will send you an email. If you receive it WP Emails are coming through. If not, WP itself is having trouble sending emails.
I will be here to help if you have more questions. Just ask.

ParticipantNo need to apologize I am here to explain and help 🙂 .
If you wish to remove the categories feel free. Keep in mind if you want people to be able to search by category, simply mentioning the category somewhere in the event description will do that for you. People can browse by category. When they go to an event they can click on the category and browse other events in the same category. Many user have found that helpful. In addition if your theme supports widgets you can add a sidebar with link to each category.
You also might be interested in checking out the filterbar plugin. It will add a sidebar regardless of whether your theme has a widget area or not. It would allow people to filter events by category and much more.
I just wanted you to be aware of your options. Please let me know if you need anything else. If not, mind marking this resolved? Thanks!

ParticipantWell they are for categorizing. For instance, if you click here you will see all of your Calls For Entry events. But, they do not tie into the search feature. The search feature just searches text copy.
Now I totally get the argument that search should also search categories. I am not disagreeing. But, the truth is that building a search engine is extremely difficult. That is the reason why no company has been able to dethrone Google, even though some have invest billions in trying. What you want, for categories to be indexed as well as text copy, is certainly an improvement that could be added to search and that is why it would make a great feature suggestion. But, in fairness there are always going to be ways to improve search because it is so difficult to program for. That is why we have to gauge the popularity of requested features, because it would be impossible to implement every upgrade. I hope this makes sense.

ParticipantYou are welcome Marcia! Thanks for the info.
What happens when you only have one email in that field? Do the emails come through?
Can you test if you are getting other WP Emails? In WP Settings check the box to be notified of new user sign ups, then sign up as a new user. Did that email come through? If not, you might need to get with your server administrator to see about getting WP to work with your servers send mail function. If that email did come through, could you try one more thing? Could you try testing if there is a conflict by following these three steps. On step three, try submitting an event as an unregistered user once again and seeing if the email comes through.
Let me know how that goes. I think we are nearing a solution. 🙂

ParticipantFor sure! So the themes that Tribe guarantees compatibility with are the default ones, like Twenty Thirteen, etc. If there is an issue with one of those themes we take full responsibility for solving it. But that is not what you are looking for. For other themes we do our best to work with the theme authors to solve issues. That said, there are quite a number of themes where the authors themselves have advertised or otherwise guaranteed compatibility with TEC. If there is an issue, generally they will fix it or help you fix it. Here are a couple of lists:
http://themeforest.net/attributes/compatible_with/events_calendar_pro
http://themeforest.net/attributes/compatible_with/events_calendarNow you may notice that Game Plan is on there. That is because the author does advertise compatibility with TEC. That is one reason why I was hoping we could work through that conflict guide with you and see if we can isolate the problem. If so, and it does turn out to be the theme conflicting with TEC, then we can work with the author to get it resolved.
I spoke out of turn when I called Game Plan a problem theme. To be clear, I have seen more than a few people have issues while running that theme. The threads have all been abandoned before we were able to sus out the details and determine with certainty what the cause is. Purchasing another theme would definitely be premature. Assuming you are not on a live site you can test for conflict by following the first step of that guide in about 5 minutes, and that will tell us if this is a conflict. From there another 5-15 minutes will tell us exactly what is conflicting.
Just let me know how I can be of further assistance. Thanks, Matt.

ParticipantThanks again for the info matt. Would you mind answering questions 1, 3, & 4? They are especially relevant now that I have your system info. Gameplan in particular can be a problem theme, unfortunately. I would not be surprised if once you test for conflicts that theme turns out to be the root cause of all these issues. 🙁 Let me know when you have the answers to those questions and we can hopefully find a resolution soon after. Cheers!

ParticipantI see what you are looking for! There would be two ways of accomplishing this..
Easy way: Add the name of your category somewhere in the content of the event. You could even just have a “Tags: Exhibitions” or something like that at the bottom beneath the rest of your verbiage.
Hard but better way: If you are familiar with WP API and search terms, then you could hook into the Tribe Bar search and add the logic to search category names as well.
What you want sounds like an interesting feature to me. I think it would make for a great feature request. If you add your request to that page then other users who are interested in it can voice their support, and thus make it more likely that we include it in a future version of the plugin.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy mattcuba,
Thanks for the system information! It is a big help. I have two suspicions, and odds are enormously strong it is one of these:
A) The Gameplan theme
B) Theme override
We can test if it is either one of those by following that check for conflicts guide I linked. Did you have a change to try that? What was the result? Thanks!
