When choosing a filter for the Event List, the event list will only display the next upcoming events, and not events based on the filter settings I inputted. When I click “save” on the widget prep-screen, the filter options automatically resorts back to being empty, and I’m unable to filter the Event List for the side bar.

Please let me know if there’s a fix for this.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Howdy Matt,

I am happy to help with that. I just tested this on my server a number of ways and it is functioning properly everytime. The widget does show only upcoming events, however it shows only the ones from within the category I selected. Let us try and figure out why yours is different. Would you mind trying the following?

    1. <span style=”line-height: 13px;”>Go to Appearances > Widgets, click on the list widgets you have added and then click delete. Now add them again. Do the new ones work properly?</span>
    2. Confirm that when you go to yoursite.com/events/category/categoryname/ that the events you want to see in the widget are all appearing on that page. If not you will need to edit each event and mark it for this category.
    3. When you add the Mini Calendar widget and tell it to filter events from the came category, does it properly filter out events?
    4. If that did not work  this guide will help you test if something is conflicting and causing the problem.
    5. If none of the above helped would you mind posting a link to a page with this widget so I can look at it further. Also could you grab your system information and paste it here? Make sure to use the ‘Set as private reply’ checkbox to protect your private information from the public. You can find the system info by going to WP Admin > Events > Settings, clicking on the “Help” tab, and scrolling down to the ‘System Information’ box. (Or by going to [yoursite]/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events&page=tribe-events-calendar&tab=help) That will give me a lot of extra information to help diagnose the problem.

    Thanks!

Thanks again for the info matt. Would you mind answering questions 1, 3, & 4? They are especially relevant now that I have your system info. Gameplan in particular can be a problem theme, unfortunately. I would not be surprised if once you test for conflicts that theme turns out to be the root cause of all these issues. 🙁 Let me know when you have the answers to those questions and we can hopefully find a resolution soon after. Cheers!

For sure! So the themes that Tribe guarantees compatibility with are the default ones, like Twenty Thirteen, etc. If there is an issue with one of those themes we take full responsibility for solving it. But that is not what you are looking for. For other themes we do our best to work with the theme authors to solve issues. That said, there are quite a number of themes where the authors themselves have advertised or otherwise guaranteed compatibility with TEC. If there is an issue, generally they will fix it or help you fix it. Here are a couple of lists:

    http://themeforest.net/attributes/compatible_with/events_calendar_pro
    http://themeforest.net/attributes/compatible_with/events_calendar

Now you may notice that Game Plan is on there. That is because the author does advertise compatibility with TEC. That is one reason why I was hoping we could work through that conflict guide with you and see if we can isolate the problem. If so, and it does turn out to be the theme conflicting with TEC, then we can work with the author to get it resolved.

I spoke out of turn when I called Game Plan a problem theme. To be clear, I have seen more than a few people have issues while running that theme. The threads have all been abandoned before we were able to sus out the details and determine with certainty what the cause is. Purchasing another theme would definitely be premature. Assuming you are not on a live site you can test for conflict by following the first step of that guide in about 5 minutes, and that will tell us if this is a conflict. From there another 5-15 minutes will tell us exactly what is conflicting.

Just let me know how I can be of further assistance. Thanks, Matt.

    Howdy,

Since this thread has gone for a while without any response, I am going to archive it. If you are still in need of assistance please open a new thread, we will be happy to help. Thanks!
