I was just wondering if you were collecting a database of customers wanting to be kept up to date on any changes, as other suppliers in similar situations have been doing.

That way we don’t have to keep proactively checking on a situation which hasn’t really moved since April.

I’ve done that and deleted the old imports, thanks.

Hopefully this will fix things – I’ll know for sure in a day or two.

Will you be able to contact me if and when the Facebook import situation is resolved? We’d be keen to restore our aggregator licence when that happens.

It seems to be an intermittent fault. It happens occasionally and then we don’t see it again for a while. One of those things that interrupts your workflow and drive you a bit crazy.

I’ve a new problem now – the Event Aggregator – all the import origin options except for CSV file are greyed out and unusable.

Our licence has been renewed but I still can’t import events.

How do I change this please?

Hi again Shelby.

I don’t think I did a very good job of explaining our set up in the last post – sorry.

What we have is 140 Facebook sites saved in the importer. Most of these are set for weekly or monthly scheduled imports, so we shouldn’t yet be importing more than 100 events a day as per our licence terms.

We have occasionally breached the daily limit. But in the past we got a message saying something along the lines of “you have reached your daily limit of imports”. And then we stopped for the day, and tweaked our scheduled imports.

We never got an error message of the sort recorded above, so I can’t see that this is about our breaching the import limit.

After all we have had more than 100 Facebook sites stored in the importer for at least a year, first on http://www.yorkmix.com and later transferred to thingstodoyork.com – and as I say, we only very occasionally got a ‘limit reached’ message.

In which case, would there be another reason for our problems?

Will doing this wipe any of the hundreds of events already live on the site?

And will it delete the 140+ Facebook importers we’ve painstakingly added over the last few months?

I have tried wiping and reloading the licence key a few times, and on the last attempt it brought back the importer.

But now when I import any event I get this message:

Thanks Geoff. I see your point! However I only created the test event with that far-off date because I couldn’t create a recurring event for this month.

However, this week I have successfully created recurring dates for contemporary events. So whatever caused my problems last week haven’t, if you’ll pardon this, recurred…

Hi Geoff. Thanks for coming back to me so swiftly.

I think you’ve sorted the problem. I’d forgotten we had Events Rocket as we hadn’t used it since the ECP update stopped it working. I’ve deactivated and deleted Event Rocket and created a recurring event with different times, and they displayed correctly. Thank you.

I’m not sure of the etiquette of this, but I’ve two other problems that you touched on in your reply which are ongoing, even after the Event Rocket delete.

One is the Facebook Importer. It has stopped letting me in. If I click on Events > Import and click on the Facebook tab, the page tries to load but never does; I either get an “error: timed out” page, or more usually just a blank page. The iCal and CSV tabs load fine.

And re Events Rocket. We used this because the Events Calendar widget is so basic. We want much more flexibility – a widget where we can display a combination of categories, exclude certain categories etc, perhaps choose a time period, rather than have the bald choice of displaying all categories or just one.

Would we be able to have the API to create our own customised widget? Or is there another way to create the sort of widget which we need?
