Recurring events still showing the wrong time

Hi there. I was following this thread about the problem of recurring events showing wrongly by one hour:

Some Facebook events imported with wrong date and time, set to UTC-0

Nico said the bug would be fixed by 4.1.2.

We have updated to this version but the problem persists. When I add a reoccurring event with a start time of 2.30pm it shows up as 1.30pm.

This is a real problem as I am having to enter the wrong time for many events in the future – which will presumably show the wrong time when the bug is fixed. Meantime all the previous events entered before this bug are already showing the wrong time.

Is there any chance of a fix in the next version (having been promised a fix in the last two versions, please be honest with me!)

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the recurring events still showing the wrong time.
I would love to help you with this topic.

I just took a look at the bug ticket in question (I am assuming that we are still talking about Facebook imported recurring events based on your reference to the last thread – if that’s not the case could you please let me know).

I can tell you that our team is working hard on it and that it’s at the top of their priority list, but full disclosure, they had to go back to the drawing board on this one.

So the net result is that I actually cannot promise you a release date, I can however tell you that we are just as eager as you are to release it. Our apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime.

On another note, I am not sure how much your system information has changed since the last time.

But I did notice that you are still using Event Rocket (which is no longer compatible with our plugins since 4.0 – and is know to cause some very unpredictable issues) and I also notice that through the process, there are a couple of informations worth sharing (any detail might help speed up resolution).

With that in mind, would you please provide us with your latest system information in a private reply ? (following the instructions found in the link)

It would also be great if you could tell me what your current timezone settings are for both WordPress and the Events Calendar

I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.

Hi Geoff. Thanks for coming back to me so swiftly.

I think you’ve sorted the problem. I’d forgotten we had Events Rocket as we hadn’t used it since the ECP update stopped it working. I’ve deactivated and deleted Event Rocket and created a recurring event with different times, and they displayed correctly. Thank you.

I’m not sure of the etiquette of this, but I’ve two other problems that you touched on in your reply which are ongoing, even after the Event Rocket delete.

One is the Facebook Importer. It has stopped letting me in. If I click on Events > Import and click on the Facebook tab, the page tries to load but never does; I either get an “error: timed out” page, or more usually just a blank page. The iCal and CSV tabs load fine.

And re Events Rocket. We used this because the Events Calendar widget is so basic. We want much more flexibility – a widget where we can display a combination of categories, exclude certain categories etc, perhaps choose a time period, rather than have the bald choice of displaying all categories or just one.

Would we be able to have the API to create our own customised widget? Or is there another way to create the sort of widget which we need?

I’m glad that you managed to solve at least 1 of the issues you had. Kudos on that!

In regards to the other issues, here are some answers.

This seems slightly to be a slightly different issue than the thread you were referring to earlier. Would you mind giving me a sample FB URL or page that you are trying to import from so that I can run some tests ?

And re Events Rocket. We used this because the Events Calendar widget is so basic. We want much more flexibility – a widget where we can display a combination of categories, exclude certain categories etc, perhaps choose a time period, rather than have the bald choice of displaying all categories or just one. Would we be able to have the API to create our own customised widget? Or is there another way to create the sort of widget which we need?

I absolutely hear and understand what you are saying. More flexibility is always a good thing.

There are a couple of ways you could achieve what you are looking for:

1. You can suggest and vote for additional features in our User Voice Forum: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas
2. You can tweak pretty much anything (including the widgets) to your liking with a combination of our Themer’s guide, our functions archive and by doing a search in our forums, documentation and knowledge base (there are many snippets available for free!)
3. If you are in a hurry or this is beyond your confort zone, you could hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.
