ParticipantHi there.
When I went to add in an event via the Event Aggregator on http://thingstodoyork.com/ I got the message
Buy Event Aggregator – Access more event sources and automatic imports
But we have paid – and our valid licence key (valid until next March) is input correctly and accepted: see the attached screenshots
Please help as this is causing us real problems.
Best wishes,
Chris

ParticipantI have tried wiping and reloading the licence key a few times, and on the last attempt it brought back the importer.
But now when I import any event I get this message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘*’, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /home/thingstodoyork/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Aggregator/Record/Queue_Cleaner.php on line 10
And events aren’t importing. Help!

ParticipantHi Chris,
I’d love to help you out here. 🙂
Can you try something for me? Would you mind completely deleting the license key, uninstalling PRO and then downloading PRO again from your account dashboard, re-installing it, and re-inputting your license key for EA please?
Let’s get a fresh start and then we can work on it from there.
Cheers,
Shelby 🙂

ParticipantHi Shelby, thanks for coming back to me.
I can do this but I don’t want to lose any data.
Will doing this wipe any of the hundreds of events already live on the site?
And will it delete the 140+ Facebook importers we’ve painstakingly added over the last few months?
Thanks
Chris

ParticipantAh, Chris! Your questions actually helped me solve the puzzle here! 🙂
So, I was under the impression that you had recently activated EA for the first time. Your imports likely stopped working because you have “140+ Facebook importers” running! Your license is a 100 imports/day license.
If you need to upgrade, you can contact us via email using the form here and in most cases we can provide a discount code for the upgrade that is equal to the pro-rated value of your current license to apply to your upgrade. 🙂
Please let me know if you have any follow up questions, or need clarification.
Best,
Shelby 🙂

ParticipantHi again Shelby.
I don’t think I did a very good job of explaining our set up in the last post – sorry.
What we have is 140 Facebook sites saved in the importer. Most of these are set for weekly or monthly scheduled imports, so we shouldn’t yet be importing more than 100 events a day as per our licence terms.
We have occasionally breached the daily limit. But in the past we got a message saying something along the lines of “you have reached your daily limit of imports”. And then we stopped for the day, and tweaked our scheduled imports.
We never got an error message of the sort recorded above, so I can’t see that this is about our breaching the import limit.
After all we have had more than 100 Facebook sites stored in the importer for at least a year, first on http://www.yorkmix.com and later transferred to thingstodoyork.com – and as I say, we only very occasionally got a ‘limit reached’ message.
In which case, would there be another reason for our problems?
Thanks
Chris

ParticipantHey Chris,
Thanks for clarifying. I’m a little stumped here. I’m going to confer with my team on this one and you should expect to hear from me by tomorrow. 🙂
Thanks for your patience!

ParticipantHey Chris,
So after checking with my team and some testing of my own, I’ve determined that you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps I suggested earlier. None of your events or imports should be affected, but as a precaution, it is recommended that you back up your site’s database before doing so. 🙂
Thanks!
Shelby 🙂

ParticipantHi Shelby.
We’ve just done all that and the first event I tried to import failed with this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘*’, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /home/thingstodoyork/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Aggregator/Record/Queue_Cleaner.php on line 10
What next?
Best wishes,
Chris

ParticipantUpdate: we updated our Events Calendar plugin too, and it seems to be importing OK again Shelby.

ParticipantHey Chris,
Just to clarify, the update seems to have resolved this then? Your last two messages were a little conflicting, so I just want to make sure!
Thanks!
Shelby 🙂

ParticipantHi Shelby.
Sorry for not replying straight away – I just wanted to check it was all still working.
The error code has vanished and imports are working again as before.
Thanks for all your help.
