September 11, 2012 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Is upgrade from The Event Calendar to The Event Calendar Pro seemless? #24843Calvin deRuyterParticipant
Just a note for anyone else wondering about this question. The answer by Rob was correct, HOWEVER, there is one big big proviso. Although all of the events remained intact, with Pro you get the ability to store Organizer and Venue information. When I switched to Pro, those fields created a separate Organizer and Venue for every entry, even if it was exactly the same as another Organizer/Venue. So, if you have 50 entries with “xxx y” as the Organizer and 25 entries with “xxx church” as a venue, then you will have 25 venues with the same info and 50 organizer entries with the same info. If you go and remove 49 of the organizers and 24 of the venues (so that you have one of each, which you would want), the entries that the “extras” were attached too were then devoid of ANY orgnizer or venue… which then meant going into every entry and reclicking on the correct venue/organizer.
Not sure that is all clear… but it is not quite as seemless as one would hope… in that venues and organizers with the exact same name and spelling should cancel themselves out until only one remains — or it would certainly have been nice! SMILE
Calvin deRuyterParticipantThis load time is a real problem! Our testing showed that using the Events Calendar with the Community add-on ADDED almost 15 seconds to the download time for the site (not the page, but for the whole site!), in effect taking as much time as all the other elements of the site and plug-ins combined. And, as you know an EXTRA 15 seconds can be a death bell for a website! Has there been any movement on this issue since the last posting in May? This is a major major fault on what otherwise would be an outstandlingly steller plug-in!
June 7, 2012 at 11:42 am in reply to: Anonymous users must log in…permalinks does not cure it #20330Calvin deRuyterParticipantThanks, Jonah. Yes,
–we are using WordPress 3.3.2
–we only had 4 activated plugins when we started so it was easy to disconnect all… it did not correct the problem.
–and yes, we did try 20-11 theme, both with the other plugins activated and with the other plugins deactivated.
We are perplexed. We even thought it might be something weird because it is is a “hidden folder” on the server because it is in construction mode–so we even shut down our existing site for a time and put up the test site to see if that was somehow the problem. No such luck!Calvin deRuyterParticipantHow about adding in “Bulk Actions” the option to move selected items from Pending to Published as a group rather than individually. There are certain posts you know are ok because of previous experience in the people who submitted them, and it would be nice to publish them all at one time rather than open each one individually and click “Publish” in those instances.
June 6, 2012 at 12:30 pm in reply to: Anonymous users must log in…permalinks does not cure it #20253Calvin deRuyterParticipantI want to add that we have upgraded to the new version of The Events Calendar and the new version of Community Events that came out in the last 24 hours and it has not seemed to fix the problem.
Calvin deRuyterParticipantI should add that I am having the same problem in my Community. I have reset my permalinks several times and it does nothing to fix the problem I am having.
I have version 3.3.2 of wordpress
I have version 2.0.6 of The Events Calendar
I have version 1.0 of the Community Events
I am using Woo Themes
I have “anonymous” tagged in my Community Events settings
I have Permalinks tagged to “post name” option (and have reset them several times)
My page for the Community Events is (pretty much the same as the tribe tutorial video):
http://www.xxxxxxxxxx.com/xxxxxxxxxxxx/events/calendar/list/
Yet, when I go to the list page I get:
Username BOX
Password BOX
CHEKCBOX Remember Me
LOGIN BUTTON
Please log in to view your eventsCalvin deRuyterParticipantHow do you “flush the Permalinks?” I know how to set them, but what do you mean by “flushing” them?
