MikeParticipant
This can be closed. I was able to modify the default events template and add wrappers/sidebar etc.
Thanks.
MikeParticipantI’m still confused.
My ‘day view’ when I use ‘Default Page Template’:
When I use ‘Default Events Template’:
It’s showing the events properly, but is missing the right column, colours/styles wrong etc.I’ve tried the ‘Default stylesheet used for events templates’ as both ‘Full Styles’ and ‘Tribe Event Styles’ and it makes no difference.
It appears to be a problem with ‘List view’, whether it’s all events or events on a single day – displaying events in the list is missing the event heading. The day view isn’t showing “Events for February 26…” etc.
It can’t just be a CSS problem, because the Title is missing completely:
I need your help! 🙂
MikeParticipantOk, in Settings -> Display -> Events template:
– It was set to Default Page Template
If I change it to Default Events Template, then the headings display properly on the day view, however the rest of the styling is all messed up.
I’m struggling to understand which CSS file is being used for ‘default page template’ versus ‘default events template’.
PLease help.
MikeParticipantI can see a /views/day folder under:
public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/daybut this is part of the plugins folder, not the theme.
I have even renamed my theme events folder to:
public_html/wp-content/themes/freshcanvas/events.000and it’s still displaying the same.
I’m not sure where it’s picking up the theme files from.MikeParticipantI don’t have that directory.
I can see some templates under:
public_html/wp-content/themes/freshcanvas/events
(freshcanvas is the child theme).
I don’t have a ‘tribe-events/day’ folder anywhere.
Thoughts?
MikeParticipantHi there
Thanks for this so far.
I’m using a child theme – are the files I’m looking for under the child theme or the main parent theme?I’m running TEC Pro.
I know in the early days I customised a lot of the templates and ideally I’d like to start removing those customisations and using the default.
Cheers

MikeParticipantHi @Barry
Unfortunately this is not resolved, in fact it appears to be worse. Maybe it was cached before. The calendar is now no longer displaying at all. http://www.gosfordnetball.com.au/calendar
And the sidebar widget is not showing any month selectors.

MikeParticipantI’m keen for this too.
Is there a new version? The last time I used it was March 2012.MikeParticipantHi Rob
Thanks for the speedy reply.
The calendar not appearing seems to have something to do with WP Super Cache. If I turn the cache off, I can see it. When I turn it on, it just displays the home page. Weird. I’ll work on that part. The fact that you can see it is a good thing.
Ok so regarding the key error message in the plugin, is that a problem? Or should I ignore it.
Cheers
MikeParticipantAlso fixed and styled the “event has passed” label.

MikeParticipantFinally have something to show here, loaded live last night.
The site itself still has a bit of work to do, but the calendar is finished. I’ve made quite a few mods, mostly styling and some functional. A lot of inspiration from some of the other sites in this showcase thread – so thanks!
http://www.gosfordnetball.com.au/calendar/
– Category colour coding on the calendar view
– Fit on a 630px wide main body
– Showing the category (and colour code) on the calendar tool tip view
– Category colour coding on the list view: http://www.gosfordnetball.com.au/calendar/upcoming/
– Excerpts on the list view instead of the full post
– Grouped events by day on the list view
– Display the category on the list view
– Repeat of all the list view changes, on the venue view ( http://www.gosfordnetball.com.au/venue/adcock-park/ )
– Styling of the Upcoming Events widget, including category colour coding
– A few bug fixes
– And importantly (for me), imported 200+ events from a CSV, including a hack to import the categoryI’d still like to do a bit of work to do on the single event view still, but it’s ok as it is. I did a bit of styling work there, added a divider, changed the order of some of the fields and added arrows for the next/prev event links.
Thanks for looking, feedback welcome.
MikeParticipantYou’re right – it does. Just tried it and it works.
I’ve requested your shortcode (or something very similar to it) be added to the core, because this is a function/feature that a lot of people would want to make use of.

MikeParticipantIt needs styling, but it returned my upcoming events straight away without modifying anything 🙂
I did notice the parameters – great touch. Is it possible to include multiple categories? eg: [events category=”Competition,Clubs”]
I don’t use recurring events on my site, sorry.
