Hi Josh,
Thanks for getting back to me. I agree, it’s probably that there are too many events to export all at once.
I do have access to phpmyadmin but I don’t really know how to use it. Could you tell me:
1. What am I searching for?
2. How do I find it?
3. How do I download it in a readable format?THanks!
MatMatthewParticipantThanks Cliff,
I’ve changed it to -1 and that has worked nicely. As you say, this will be undone each update so I’d really appreciate a more permanent fix. It doesn’t seem to have affected the performance so I wouldn’t have thought changing that limit to 500 or 1000 would affect much if you were to add that as in an update.
Please do let me know when the developers arrange a long term fix.
Thanks,
MatMatthewParticipantAwesome, worked nicely, thanks Cliff!
MatthewParticipantI was just about to use the fix in that post but when I checked I see you guys have already fixed it in the latest update.
Nice work π
thanks,
MatMatthewParticipantHi Cliff,
Thanks. I tried that in my custom css file (I use Site Origin CSS it works really well). Unfortunately it didn’t work even when I added !important:
#tribe-community-events #ticket_form_table, #tribe-community-events .ticket_list_container { display: none !important; }
Is there something I’m missing?
Thanks,
MatMatthewParticipantHi George,
That works nicely, thanks.
I definitely thing you guys should consider adding customization of this text as an option in an update. The main reason is people will often enter a state and it returns no results even when there are loads of events in that state. I know from forum posts that this is more to do with how google maps works, but customizing the text will allow users to solve the problem themselves.
Just as a side note. I installed Geo my WP and had the developer insert some customizations to add a ‘use my location’ button and google suggestions to the near field. It works awesome. Anyway, I thought you guys might be interested in adding this feature. You can see it here:
MatthewParticipantThese guys (from your showcase) do get hcalendar info but no errors:

MatthewParticipantHi Brian,
The only customizations I have applied to the events are some styling changes in a plugin. I get the same errors with this plugin deactivated. I have also tried deactivating all other plugins and reverting to twenty thirteen, when I run the structured data testing tool I still get the hcalendar errors.
The reason you are not seeing any errors is that the structured data testing tool is not displaying any hcalendar information for events from your demo site. This is also the case for a couple of websites from your ‘showcase’ section. You can see this if you run them through the tool:
No hcalendar:
1. From your demo site – https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/
2. From one of your showcase websites – http://www.sippingnpaintinghighland.com/event/mimosa-morning-pink-orchids-sat-feb-13th-11am-40/
3. From one of your showcase websites – http://www.santacruzmah.org/event/lightning-talks-mysteries/
One of my events pages. This gets hcalendar errors:

Thanks,

I called WP Engine but they said that they are not able to disable the kill script at the minute because I am not the only install on there and it would mess things up for the others. They said that they will kill anything longer than 6 seconds.
If you guys could look into changing this as soon as possible that would be great because I am going to have to turn map view off until it works π Could you notify me when it is fixed?
Thanks,

I called WP Engine and found out how to access the error logs. He said the problem appears to be with the plugin rather than something to do with hosting.
Here is a screenshot of the error logs:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwi8XsZZg622UlRCa3FBMVRoLW8/view?usp=sharingHe said basically the problem is that the ‘query’ is too long (he didn’t know what kind of query he said to ask you).
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
MatMatthewParticipantThat worked perfectly π
Thanks Brian

MatthewParticipantHi Josh,
Thanks for trying on this one. Obviously I’m a little disappointed with the outcome, I would have thought not displaying events that have already started was just common sense. I’ve submitted a user voice request but I really think this should be added to the basic plugin, after all, you can’t attend an event that started yesterday π
I will have to speak to a developer about making the customization. Will telling them what I’m after and that they should use “pre-get-posts” be enough for them to know what to do? If not could you post any more instructions they may need here before closing the thread?
Thanks,

I do seem to be getting an error, I’m not sure exactly what it means. I’ll past a screenshot link and then copy exactly what it says below:

I tried putting the single-event.php in the list folder in my child theme with the code you gave me. It has worked to some degree but now I have a strange display where the events that have started take up space but are not visible so you have to click ‘Next Events’ a bunch of times to get to the events. I recorded a screencast to show you:
