    Hi Brian,

No worries, I’m not planning to launch my site until around August and up until then I’m just showing it to potential clients, I can avoid the city searches for now.

I’ll really need a fix before August though, I’ll wait until 3.10 comes out and see if that solves the issue. If it does not would you be willing to have another look at it?

    Thanks,
    Mat

    Hi Barry,

Sorry for confusing you. Basically it does work as you said. I think I was having an issue with some events because I had imported them with CSV with a cost field value and then added the woocommerce plugin and added tickets.

I’ve used the little bit of code to allow me to add the currency symbol and that is working fine.

Sorry again for the mix up, you can mark this thread as closed if you like now.

    Thanks for you help,
    Mat

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for getting back to me, but I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with the reply. You can see if you just read my initial post that I have already tried the conflict checks “2. Deactivated all plugins except events calendar and pro and filterbar + activated twenty fifteen”.

I went ahead and did it again, also deactivated filterbar and activated twenty thirteen (instead of fifteen). I cleared wordpress cache and my browser, that also made no difference. I again tried adding a new event in melbourne, searching melbourne still does not find it.

I’ve outlined the problem exactly below:

vancouver -> an event in Portland, none of the 4 in Vancouver
    melbourne -> no events

    a vancouver zip (V6B 6C1) -> all 4 Vancouver events
a melbourne zip (VIC 3006) -> all 4 Melbourne events

The beta version is not an option, I’m approaching potential clients and can’t really use experimental versions (I have a meeting with one this weekend who has events in Vancouver).

I really feel like you have fobbed me off here. I’m not asking for customization, I just want the features I paid for to work as they were described. I’m happy to re-enter events or delete tables in the database or whatever, just tell me what I have to do. I’ve left open access to the website so you can see for yourself. Could you please actually go and look, the fact that it works on your site really doesn’t help me (and it’s very strange that it only worked on the second try). I’ve deactivated everything else so what else am I supposed to do?

    Hi Barry,

Yes, it is a bit different from Prydonian as you said. But the issue is not quite what you described either (just to clarify I’m talking about working with new events). Basically, if you add an event with a woocommerce ticket the ‘cost’ does not show in the event list view and users are not able to narrow down the results using the cost filter.

To me, it seems that the problem is ‘cost’ and ‘ticket price’ are two separate things. So when you add an event with woocommerce tickets, there is no ‘cost’.

Mike describes the problem exactly in the quote I posted above. I’d like to know if there is an automatic way to have the woocommerce ticket price pulled into the cost field.

    Thanks,

    Mat

    OK,

I’ve found something out as I continued to search the forums for an answer, in this thread:

The Event Calendar Pro & Woocommerce Tickets, Thoughts from the Field

“4. AUTOMATICALLY PULL EVENT PRICE(S) FROM TICKET ENTRIES
The Event Calendar has a field entry for ticket prices, which is fine if the client is not using an additional ticketing plugin. But if they are, then it should automatically pull the ticketing costs from the attached tickets to fill out this field. Why do this separately? Because we still would like to post the cost in widgets and other fields, and we can not access the ticket fields to do this”

I found a snippet in another thread to allow me to see the cost field again (which works nicely). So now I can just enter the same value in the cost field that is in the woocommerce ticket price field. I have to do each one manually though. Is there a way to automatically pull the ticket cost from woocommerce? So that it can be drilled down by the filter bar…

    Thanks,
    Mat

    Hi Brian,

I’m still having the same issue with Melbourne, but it started working for Vancouver after I did the following:

    Expanded the radius to 500km
Searched Seattle to see if it would pick up the Vancouver events (it did)
Then searched Vancouver and it worked, it still does…weird

I could try a similar fix for Melbourne, but I’d rather not until I know why it’s happening, otherwise it will happen to my users in the future without me knowing…

Thanks for your help, let me know what you think I should do next

    Ah yes, quite right!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I wish I’d just asked before I tried all that other stuff though!

    Hi Geoff,

So, I finally figured it out. The crux of it is that as far as I can tell you can’t put anything but a single numeric value in the cost field. If you do it will break the filter (although whatever you write will still display within the event just fine).

So I had things like this: 225 CAD, 1495-1795 AUD, 225 GBP

Both the hyphens and the letters all seem to break the cost filter. So I’ve managed to sort that out now (I only noticed this when playing around on the test site so thanks for your advice on that, I’ll leave it up in case I have other issues).

For the benefit of anyone browsing the forum with a similar issue I’ll just write how I worked around it:

I’m using CSV import as I’m collating thousands of events in many different countries (therefore currencies).
First I took everything out of the cost field (spreadsheet cell) but for a single numeric value (e.g. 1400).
After importing all my events I manually went through each of them and changed the currency symbol to _AUD or _CAD etc. and changed the dropdown to ‘after cost’
Then I went in the settings, removed the default currency symbol and changed the title of my filter to just ‘cost’ and not ‘cost($)’.

Very labor intensive solution I know but there is no way to CSV import my currency symbols as far as I can tell (is that right Geoff?).

Anyway, after doing all that the cost filter works just fine again 🙂

I hope this helps anyone having a similar problem. Thanks for your help Geoff.

    Hi again,

Sorry, it just occurred to me that I’m having another issue that may be relevant. You can see in the map view that all of the events are not showing (see those in Sydney only display once you click the ‘clinical edge’ filter). I was planning to open a support ticket about this at some point, I’m not sure if it’s relevant to the cost range problem.

    Thanks,
    Mat

    Hi Geoff,

So, I set up a new temporary site and installed the events calendar as you said. I created some events and the cost range adjusts as it should (without the issue of the 900 maximum). So the problem is something to do with my site. (This is the temporary site: http://26c.288.myftpupload.com/events/)

So now I’m a bit stuck, I’ve tried again deactivating all my plugins and activating the twenty fifteen theme. Same problem. I left it like that and deleted the events over 1000. It still reads 900, even when the most expensive event listed is 795. So I deleted all my events and it STILL reads 0-900 even when there are no events!

Oddly enough, when I enter an event cost between 900-1000 it does adjust the max range! I’ve taken some screen shots of this but I can’t see anywhere to attach photos in this comment?

I’ve taken the coming soon block down so you can have a look at the front end at least. If you could just let me know when you don’t need it open anymore so I can put the block back on, thanks:
