ParticipantThanks Courtney. This didn’t work for me. Can you clarify if I should be using category numbers here, and if so where do I find them? I don’t see any id numbers for event categories, and using the category name didn’t work.

ParticipantThank you very much for the timely response on this Andras.
Something you said above led me to recheck the Licenses tab on the Events Calendar setting screen. Once there I noticed that, because we had purchased the Event Aggregator add-on earlier and then effectively returned it for a refund, we had an invalid license key in the Event Aggregator spot on the Licenses screen. Deleting that key entirely stopped the calls to ea.theeventscalendar.com. So, probably not a bug on your end, although maybe something that you could make clearer on the Licenses screen?
I tried the filter above before I removed the invalid license key and it did not seem to make any difference. I suspect it is aimed at a more subtle problem than this one turned out to be.
Thanks!

ParticipantI’ve attached a screenshot of what happens to the performance when I turn off the Events Calendar plugins. You can see that the green area — “Web External” goes away, and the response time of the server drops by about .4 seconds, which puts it into the acceptable range.

ParticipantHi George:
Thanks for the details and the quick response. I’ve tested this again, and the same thing is happening. Here is an event imported with Event Calendar Pro deactivated:

Here is the event on Facebook:

Yes, I understand that we do have a lot of plugins running! Because of that, I’m sure you can understand why I do not want to go through the time consuming process to deactivate them to test this, given that that this is a known bug on your end. Also, it seems that that won’t solve the problem anyway, since it seems I would have to have to deactivate Event Calendar Pro to get this working, and then my sidebar widgets will not display, which is more important to me.
So just to reiterate, my frustration is that the legacy import works just fine for me as an admin, just not in the Author role. Event Aggregator does not work properly in either role.
So, that’s where I’m at. I’m willing to stick it out if you think this will be solved in the near future, otherwise any chance of a refund?
I do really appreciate your help and quick responses—thanks for that!

ParticipantHi George:
Unfortunately deactivating Events Calender Pro and the legacy plugin didn’t work. (Here’s an example: https://www.harpcolumn.com/event/london-ukha-christmas-party-2016/) I have shared system info through the “help” panel. The Events Calendar Pro is currently activated but I’ve left legacy deactivated for the time being.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Brian:
Sorry for the delay in this follow up. This live site did turn out to be an issue of custom templates. Your solution provided a start, but we did end up having to tweak some additional things. We did manage to get it working in the end.
Thanks for the quick input, and also help for the staging site issue.

ParticipantOk Barry, that makes sense, I get it. However, I still think most people using a calendar would want to see what the time of the event is in the location where it is being held. Many of my users don’t have any idea where my time zone is, so they just want to know what time to show up somewhere :-). Thanks for considering it…

ParticipantThanks Barry and I’ve added my comments! Given that the plugin imports the location of events, it seems logical that you wouldn’t want to change the time zone to something other than that of the location. At this point since I have to manually make the change, I can’t use auto import. I hope you’ll consider this in the next release!
