    Hi naktural,

Looks like Jonah’s got you covered with the widget/events list. Please let us know if the solution doesn’t work for you.

As for the multi-day issue. I believe that the plugin, as-is, should already do what you want. For example, it already shows start + end date for multi-day events. As for removing the end date for events that are the same day but run past midnight, you should be able to set what time is considered the multi-day cut-off with the setting under Settings > The Events Calendar as per this screenshot http://f.jkudi.sh/DcDs

Let me know if I misunderstood your request or if that doesn’t solve your issue.

    Best,
    Joey

    Hi Howard,

Thanks for pointing that out. As you probably know, Eventbrite Ticketing is currently in Beta and we’re still fixing bugs and improving the plugin. We should have the next (and hopefully final) beta ready by Feburary 5th or so and we’ll make sure to fix this bug by then for you to work with our next beta.

Thanks & let us know if you find anything else!

    Cheers

    Hi nakturnal,

Are you referencing the same code that you were talking about in the pastebin above? https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/multiday-event-cutoff/page/2/#post-13677 ? Are you sure you’re not mixing up two different issues/requests here? Just trying to make sure we’re on the same page because the code from the pastebin has nothing at all to do with how many events appear on a page. If you show me exactly what code you used to modify the number of events I can help out more 🙂

    Let us know!

    Hi Tony,

Yes, I should have mentioned the overwriting of our templates using the /events folder in your theme, that’s a pretty good way to about it as well! Keep in mind you don’t need to overwrite every file, just the ones you need/want to (in case you weren’t aware of that).

We’ll definitely keep everyone up to date regarding 2.1 via our mailing lists or blog – we’re working hard on it right now!

Once again, don’t hesitate if you have any follow-up questions.

    Cheers
    Joey

    Hey Mike,

You really are on fire! I agree with you the function shouldn’t return any html if there is no data to display. We’ll get this sorted out in 2.1 for sure.

Thanks again for pointing out this issue & have a good week!

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for identifying this issue/bug. I’ve tested a few scenarios and I agree with you that the code should in fact read as you specified. I’ve logged this as an issue to fix for 2.1 (our upcoming release) and we’ll also take a look at simplifying/combining the code at that time.

Thanks again for your suggestion and good developer’s eye and all the best!

    Hi nakturnal,

I’d like to help out, but to be honest I don’t quite understand what it is you’re trying to achieve. I looked at the code you pasted and at first glance it looks fine.

    * What exactly are you trying to achieve? Can you clarify?
    * What are you getting as a result with this code?
    * Can you provide with a link or screenshot of what you’re getting?

    Thanks & best regards,
    Joey

    Hi Tony,

I’m one of the devs working on the plugin and I can offer a more complex explanation here.

First of all, the reason you’re having difficulty using the Dynamic widgets plugin on the main events page is because of how we currently templating/loading that page. Basically we’re using the WordPress rewrite API to “hack”/add in our /events (or whatever the slug that you chose) page. We’ve since realized that this approach is flawed as it breaks certain plugins (like the one you mentioned) and various theme functions. So as Rob mentioned, in 2.1, the main events page will be an actual page (that you can see and modify inside WordPress) as opposed to a hidden page that you can’t work with. That will definitely solve your issue with the Dynamic Widgets plugin.

That being said 2.1 doesn’t have any kind of release date yet, so it could still be a while away. So let’s try to get you a working solution in the mean time!

In Settings > The Events Calendar you can choose which template is used to load the events page. Any custom template that you create in your theme should definitely appear in that list and can be used to display the events page. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Creating_Your_Own_Page_Templates for further details on creating your own templates. That template will be used as the basis to show both the main events page and the singular event view. You can use conditional tags (see http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags) to modify what shows up on that page based on wether you are in the main view or the singular view – the specific tag you’d want to use here is ‘is_singular()’ as described here http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags#A_Single_Page.2C_Single_Post_or_Attachment.

Let us know if this helps and if you have any further questions.

    Best,
    Joey

    Hey Vincent,

I want to fully understand your explanation, so allow me to clarify please. Are you saying that the CPU went up whenever you created a long repeating event (approx. 4 years) ? What was the frequency of the event (daily, weekly, monthly, etc..) ? And would the CPU usage stay up at all times or only when performing a specific action?

    Thanks
    Joey

    Hi Karen,

Rob sent me you log files and I’ve taken a look at them. As best as I can tell the activity you are seeing is absolutely normal and nothing out of the ordinary or that would suggest an issue with our plugin. Just to clarify/explain: the logs show all the traffic on your server – they don’t show any kind of error.

I am also not convinced that working on events would have a correlation with getting your site shut down; that seems odd.

I’d like to ask again: Who is your host? and when your host shut down your site, did they say why?

I don’t mean to dismiss your issue, but it sounds like something that would be best addressed with your host as opposed to with us. But please let us know if/how we can be of help.

    Best regards,
    Joey

    Hi everyone,

Just to give you an update of where things stand. We’ve done a bit of digging, and identified this as a definite bug. It’s on our roadmap for the 2.1 release to fix this (this is our next release). We’ll update this thread as soon as we have a more concrete solution, but I can’t say that this will be immediate.

Thanks for your patience & in the mean time let us know if you find anything further on your side 🙂

    Happy weekend!

    Hi Andy,

Yes, that was in fact an error on our part (regarding the version). So you’re saying that some of your events still don’t appear in the iCal feed even after fixing the version issue in the code? Sorry if I am repeating myself again, just want to make sure we’re on the same page and your last answer wasn’t 100% clear 🙂

    Thanks!

    Hi Caleb,

I’ve been able to duplicate this on my end, it’s definitely an issue in our code. I’ve just logged the issue in our issue tracker and we’ll resolve it for the 2.1 release. If we can provide a temporary solution, we’ll post it here!

    Thanks & best regards!

Andy, are you saying that the events still don’t appear when you fix the VERSION issue?
