ParticipantThanks – will keep you posted
Catherine
ParticipantBy the way, I did have a knowledgeable person add the original suggested snippets correctly, but it still did not work to get venue up front.
I’m not sure how, as everything was reverted to original, the other things happened – loss of tooltip, missing header, missing dates. I will keep you posted when I get some help
Thanks
Catherine
ParticipantThanks Rob,
I understand what you are saying, and I hope you understand how fundamental venue information is on a calendar event. That’s how this whole sorry mess started. I love the calendar and am not taking away how involved and great it is. Looked great on Shindig (wish mine looked like that though, but sadly lacking tooltip, half the header and dates on listings now – in addition to no venue (which I admit I didn’t notice till I set up the calendar)
I am trying to hire someone to help me – I couldn’t see the Gustavo video as it was too blurry but appreciate his effort greatly.
Urgently, I just need to figure out why half the month header is missing (Events for…??) and I have not had a response about that – and why there are no dates on my listings

I am trying to promote a calendar that can be used hopefully by Irish communities country-wide if I get approval by the sponsoring Irish consulate. I’m doing it for free right now, working so hard to make it look great, and they are so impressed they are willing to promote to all consulates in the U.S.
I am hoping to get someone today who can take on the glitches and then hopefully we can get back on track and I can purchase other add-ons and move on….I don’t think there is another calendar out there that can work this well (venue is sooooo important though – next after the event title and date)
Cheers

ParticipantI purchased a calendar – to show events that are happening in a community. Well, what a strange thing to discover that one cannot see where the event is actually happening (almost the first thing anyone looks for in a calendar).
I simply asked about that a month ago. I waited days upon days for replies. The last request was to see where to place the code that was suggested in the functions.php file as I was getting an error message. Instead of an answer to that simple question, I get a video that is so blurry I can’t see a thing (take a look at that please and tell me if you think it’s legible)
I don’t want to be rude, but this has been a nightmare. I know you’d probably like to get rid of me but maybe you shouldn’t be selling calendars that don’t have a venue showing – unless you stipulate that the customer will probably need to hire a developer to make it work. I have worked really hard to get this community site going and I can’t afford a developer.
So disappointing.
Catherine
ParticipantI can’t even find a wp-config.php
I could cry – I’m not a developer
Here’s snippet info (although this is moot till we get the tooltip back…)
<script type=”text/html” id=”tribe_tmpl_tooltip”>
<div id=”tribe-events-tooltip-[[=eventId]]” class=”tribe-events-tooltip”>
<h4 class=”entry-title summary”>[[=title]]</h4>
<div class=”tribe-events-event-body”>
<div class=”duration”>
<abbr class=”tribe-events-abbr updated published dtstart”>[[=dateDisplay]] </abbr>
</div>
[[ if(imageTooltipSrc.length) { ]]
<div class=”tribe-events-event-thumb”>
</div>
[[ } ]]
[[ if(excerpt.length) { ]]
<p class=”entry-summary description”>[[=raw excerpt]]</p>
[[ } ]]
[[ if(venue.length) { ]]
<p class=”entry-venue”>[[=raw venue]]</p>
[[ } ]]
<span class=”tribe-events-arrow”></span>
</div>
</div>
</script>add_filter( ‘tribe_events_template_data_array’, ‘tec_forum_939516’, 11, 3 );
function tec_forum_939516( $json, $event, $additional ){
if ( tribe_has_venue( $event ) ){
$json[‘venue’] = ‘Venue: <b>’ . tribe_get_venue( $event ) . ‘</b>’;
} else {
$json[‘venue’] = ”;
}
return $json;
}Catherine
ParticipantWhen I do this I get an error message and site goes down –
(Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tec_forum_939516() (previously declared in /home/content/c/m/j/cmjbarry/html/dev/wp-content/themes/parabola/includes/theme-functions.php:9)But MORE importantly the tooltip is missing and I need to get that back before I can even see if venue will appear up front.
What a mess
Catherine
ParticipantThanks Josh,
The tooltip was there before, and very nice it was too. Is it possible if it was working that a conflict would happen slowly (if you know what I mean?)What would it take to start all over? And keep entered event info

Participant1) If it’s OK I can’t spend time on this right now but will later – this is the busiest time of the year for Irish events as you can imagine and I have sent this out to lots to see if this community project is effective and it’s proven to be soooo stressful I can’t tell you – so I need to spend every available minute trying to fix this
2) OK, fine to leave that – wish I’d never brought it up in the first place – although I can’t believe it’s not a feature as it is on every other calendar out there (without exception)
3) Of course it should read “Events for March” “Events for April” and so on…and it had. I’m not sure exactly when this dropped off. All I changed around that time was the default template setting as I wasn’t getting the day names on top of calendar, and the week was starting on Monday and that solved that problem, and around then I noticed the missing months header…that’s a problem as folks can’t see straight off which month it is. I didn’t configure anything.
4)It’s not intermittent or random, the date is missing on ALL listings. I can’t say exactly when this happened.All Events 3.9.1 updated, Pro, Community, basic
Latest Wordpres 4.11
Mail Poet plugin
I will try that codeSo, yes forget about venue up front, here’s 3 priority and URGENT needs as this is circulating and causing enormous stress
1) get event dates back
2) get back that tooltip that I always had (disappeared same time as half the month header)It made the calendar look so much nicer
3) get header reading fully – “Events for …”Catherine
ParticipantCan you first tell me exactly where this should be placed in functions.pho and I will try it again and then give you exact error message …I already reverted after a few failed attempts
Thanks…it might help avoid a further message back and forth (tearing my hair out with this and additional serious calendar problems)Catherine
ParticipantPlease tell me exactly where in the functions.php file this should go. Each time I place it, I get error messages. thanks

ParticipantWell, I guess the missing tooltip is the same problem as I see on Yanan’s site so that’s why I latched onto that one! Sorry – I’m really desperate!

ParticipantHi,
The pressing thing is half the calendar header missing – and NO date on listings
http://irishculturebayarea.com/?post_type=tribe_events
No tooltip at all, and formatting off on listings (Text extreme left)
Original problem was no venue on tooltip and now that’s least of my worries.
Can I start all over?
Big problems
Catherine
