ParticipantWhen I click on an event into it’s specific event page some of the details of the event are placed in the sidebar. Can I move them back into the main content area? We would like to keep our sidebar consistent and just have the relevant info in the main content part.

MemberGood evening Joanna and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.Normally the details of an event should not go in the sidebar, but that depends a lot on the WordPress theme you are using.
In order to make sure, could you please provide me with a link to your website ? (http://192.168.123.68/ does not resolve unfortunately).
Furthermore, as a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your system information in a private reply ? (following the instructions found in the link)
Have a great day!

ParticipantHi Geoff, It’s running on a local server atm while we got things setup. I’m migrating it to an actual host latter today so I can link you then. The theme is Avada however so should I be asking about this on their forums instead?

MemberGood evening Joanna,
I would love a link if you can provide me with one.
I do believe we can probably try a few things before talking to the good folks at Avada.
For one thing, I would try the different settings found under Events > Settings > Display (default style sheet used…).
Have a great evening!

MemberGood evening Joanna,
Thank you for the reply and for the system information.
Other than that, I still have a few other questions / requests to get to the bottom of the issue:
- Could I have a screen shot of your event URL slugs as found in Events -> Settings ?
- Can you tell me if you created a page with the following slug http://www.childmags.com.au/events ? The reason I am asking is because if you created such a page, it would probably break the code. The calendar is actually not a “real” page, but needs to use that URL.
Another thing you might want to try is the following procedure: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fixing-http-404-errors/
Best regards,

ParticipantWe do not have a page at /events that we have created. Pretty permalinks are not working so we disabled them as the events calendar would not load otherwise.

MemberGood afternoon Joanna,
Congratulations on fixing the 404 message.
Based on the fact that pretty permalinks are not working for you, there is a strong chance that this could be fixed by reviewing the .htaccess file of your WordPress installation. Would you mind sharing the content of your .htaccess file in a private reply ?
As per your original question, the reason why the event details are displaying in the sidebar is because there is a template customization for the Events Calendar in your WordPress theme (Avada if I am not mistaking).
To get the display back to standard, you have a couple of options available:
- Try to change the setting in Events -> Settings -> Display for Events template try Default Event Template.
- Either with your theme author’s assistance or on your own (reading our Themer’s guide ), tweak the file called single-event.php found in the /tribe-events/ folder of your theme so that it looks more like the one found in /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/
- After a backup, try removing the file single-event.php found in the /tribe-events/ folder of your theme
Let me know how that goes.

ParticipantI am also having this issue with single events view & Avada, it’s actually pushing my sidebar to the bottom of the page under event related info in it’s own sidebar. You can see this here http://www.eatingdisorderstreatmentreviews.org/testing/event/iced-2016-conference-2/2016-05-04/

MemberGood afternoon,
@Kadi, although the issue looks very similar, you will benefit from having the full attention of our support staff by opening your own separate thread on this topic: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/post/ . Thank you for your understanding.
@Joanna, thank you for sharing the details of the .htaccess file. If this is indeed the file that controls your subdomain calendar.childmags.com.au (some web hosts will have different ways to go about this), then it looks perfectly fine.
This would leave us with 2 reasons for not having pretty permalink support:
- Theme or plugin conflict. Could you please go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out. Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
- Something needs to be done at your hosting level to allow it (surprisingly, mod rewrite is not always supported by default)
If you don’t mind, could you also tell me how my other suggestions went ?
Thank you for your continuing patience as we try to get to the bottom of this.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
