The following error shows up in Outlook (desktop) when trying to read the ICS file.

This error does not show up for OWA and therefore no data shows up at all.

Please advise, we need a fix for this ASAP, thank you

Hi, Michael. Sorry you’re experiencing this.

Simply for reference, I just answered another user’s question about how to get Outlook to process the iCal file differently (how to import events to an existing calendar instead of sideloaded as an additional/separate calendar)… so reading the iCal is working for them.

I see you’re not on the latest versions of our plugins. Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?

Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.

If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share any debug messages you see while changing tickets quantity, navigating your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and any other of your site’s pages relevant to this ticket.

Then, please re-share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts Mode). That will give me a lot of extra information to help diagnose the problem.

You might also see if you can spot any console errors at your site. (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)

Also, please share the iCal URL / .ics file you’re having an issue with.

    Thanks.

    Error in Outlook:

For comparison purposes, here’s the error message we get before the slash fix:
Task ‘Internet Calendar Subscriptions’ reported error (0x0004001A) : ‘The VEVENT, “Exec. Cmte. Mtg.”, defined near line 8, contains a property that references an undeclared time zone with a TZID of “America/Chicago”. Outlook found an approximate replacement, but note that some of your appointments may be off by an hour. Double-click to open this item.’

We applied this fix (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-to-outlook-with-wrong-time/), which helps with the hour being off but we still get the time zone error:

Task ‘Internet Calendar Subscriptions’ reported error (0x00040015) : ‘The VEVENT, “Exec. Cmte. Mtg.”, defined near line 8, contains a property that references an undeclared time zone with a TZID of “/America/Chicago”. The property is being treated as a floating time. Double-click to open this item.’

Michael, I’ve verified this looks to be similar to a couple other similar bug reports so I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.

I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Just so you know:

    iPhone Calendar: good
    Google Calendar: good
Outlook for Windows: good, but with warnings for each event.
OWA: bad, only the all-day events are showing.
Outlook for Mac: bad, only the all-day events are showing.

Thanks for that. I’ve passed it along to our developers.

You might try downloading your .ics file, copying the TZID line and change “TZID” to “VTIMEZONE” — so that you have both TZID and VTIMEZONE in the header of the .ics file — and then manually import that .ics file (not the URL).

If you do try this, please report back your findings.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
