I tried to renew my license key for community events and the link is not working on my account?

Sorry to hear about this, @hanna! When you say “The link is not working in my account,” can you clarify which specific link you are referring to?

Also, can you share the actual URL you are on when you see this non-working link? Is it when you’re on http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads, for example? Or http://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys for example?

With these two links I will investigate the problem more closely.

    Thank you!

    Hi George,

Thank you for getting back to me, I really appreciate it.

Before we proceed I would like to address an on-going problem with The Event Calendar, the other thread was closed before the issue was resolved.

I am currently using both The ‘Event Calendar’ and ‘Community Events’ on my website, since your last update I have been experiencing problems.

When users try to access the Community Events front-end submission form it displays a blank page with a ‘Server Error 500’, The website encountered an error while retrieving http://thepresstent.com/event/community/add. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

I have checked the Error Logs and I am getting this message:

    mod_fcgid: stderr: WordPress database error Unknown column ‘wp_postmeta.meta_value’ in ‘field list’ for query SELECT DISTINCT wp_posts.*, MIN(wp_postmeta.meta_value) as EventStartDate, MIN(tribe_event_end_date.meta_value) as EventEndDate FROM wp_posts LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta as tribe_event_end_date ON ( wp_posts.ID = tribe_event_end_date.post_id AND tribe_event_end_date.meta_key = ‘_EventEndDate’ ) WHERE 1=1 AND wp_posts.post_type = ‘tribe_events’ AND (wp_posts.post_status = ‘publish’ OR wp_posts.post_status = ‘pending’ OR wp_posts.post_status = ‘completed’ OR wp_posts.post_status = ‘failed’ OR wp_posts.post_status = ‘refunded’ OR wp_posts.post_status = ‘advert-pending’ OR wp_posts.post_status = ‘private’) ORDER BY EventStartDate DESC, wp_posts.post_date DESC LIMIT 0, 1 made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), wp, WP->main, WP->query_posts, WP_Query->query, WP_Query->get_posts,

I have been told that the meta_value field in the wp_postmeta column in the database can not be found which is causing the issue.

I have never had a problem with The Events Calendar or Community events before updating to current version 4.0.4. I was wondering if I purchase a new licence key for updates and support, can the problem be fixed?

I have tried to update my licence key through this url here https://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys/

    Hey Hanna,

I’m sorry to hear about these community events issues – can you share the “System Information” of the site where you have these issues so that I can better investigate this issue?

Getting a license does NOT mean the problem will vanish, so before going down that road I would love to see your site’s “System Information” and try to recreate the issue on my own site, which at this time I have yet been unable to do.

This article shows how you can share System Information → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    Thanks!
    George

    Hi Gorge,

Thank you for getting back to me. I think part of the problem causing the error is due to missing fields in the Community Events submission form. The fields ‘Organisers Details’ and ‘Venue Details’ are missing. The site is trying to locate the meta fields on the DB, which can not be found.

Here is a screen shot of the submission form:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/w0tysuj63decgs3/Communityeventform.png?dl=0

The Location/Country details are being generated within the Timezone field for some reason? (please see screen shot below).

I have copied and pasted the System Information below (minus my website details).

    Hey Hanna,

Your screenshots show behavior that is not normal—I cannot recreate their behavior on my own site, so I’m suspecting that there’s a plugin or theme code conflict happening here.

To help reveal if that’s the case or not, I would recommend running through the complete set of troubleshooting steps outlined on this page → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

After EACH STEP in that process, check on the issues you have described above. Do the issues persist? Is the organizer detail on the form still missing? Etc.

You should eventually end up in a state where the only active plugins are The Events Calendar and Community Events, and the active theme is a default one like Twenty Sixteen.

<string>In this state, do all of these issues persist? And can you share a link to your community events page in this state?

    Thank you!
    George

    Hi Gorge,

My website was supposed to have launch 2 weeks ago and I am now pushing for time not to mention loosing customers. I have gone through the trouble shooters as I have previously informed your colleague.

I have deactivated all the plugins expect for The Events Calendar and Community Events plugin, whilst the Twenty Sixteen theme was installed. I am still seeing the same issue regardless of the theme activated, if any plugins were deactivate or activated the problem is still there!

I have now reactivated my theme and the rest of the plugins, the Organisers name is missing now from the events calendar. I can see from the your forum that there have been a number of people experiencing or have experienced the same problem and none of their problems seem to have solved, tickets closed with out a solution or result.

I have copied and pasted the few I found below:

Required Fields for Events Submission Form

    Data Fields Missing

    Community Events browser conflicts??

Date and time fields missing in Add/Edit Event form

I would like the opportunity to purchase another license key for the community events add-on but I am a little hesitant on purchasing another key before the situation is fixed, just incase the problem gets worse.

As discussed this has happened since the 4.0.4 update and license key expiring, I have had no previous problems with the calendar or add-on up until then.

I was wondering if updating the plugin will correct this issue?

    Hi Hanna,

In your reply you have shared a number of links, the first of which was to this knowledgebase article → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/required-fields-for-events-submission-form/

Have you implemented any code customizations like what is described in that article?

As for whether or not updating would resolve your issues, I am still unable to even reproduce your issues and am truly baffled by this. I’m sorry Hanna!

It seems you have a valid license, still, so you can log into your account here and download fresh new files for Community Events. Then, replace your existing files with these new files on your site and see if anything improves.

    • The Events Calendar should be at version 4.0.6
    • Community Events should be at version 4.0.5

I’m sorry about the persistence of this bug. I am still unable to reproduce it 🙁

    Thank you for your patience,
    George

    Hi Gorge,

I am so puzzled, I have searched the forms for an answer but can not find one. Some have reported that the same fields are missing but I can’t seem to find a quick fix, as it seems to be a bug, like you said.

On the brighter side, I have re-purchased a new licence key which seemed to have fixed the problem I was experiencing with the community events add-on (thank goodness).

However the organisers name field is still missing from the events calendar itself? If I reinstall the latest update and overwrite, will I loose any of the content on my events calendar? I have over 500 events added and would cry if I have to manually input them again.

    Good Evening George,

Thanks so much, the pro add-on has fixed the problem. The organisers details are displaying again on the site. I am very grateful for your help and support.

    Brilliant work.

    Kind Regards

    Glad to hear it Hanna!

Thank you so much for your patience this—apologies for the trouble. We’ll have this fixed in the core plugin soon 🙂

Best of luck with your site!

Hi. New here. We have used woocommerse and event calendar in the past but forgot to upgrade any program. Now the license has been expired and I just purchased a new license key. I plugged that in but it kept saying, in red, that it’s not valid. I tried to update other programs (wordpress as well as woocommerse) and, during that process, now the entire price list which we had been using and I had added several of them earlier today completely disappeared!! We need some help!! Actually, we were going to just cancel the purchase (we got the basic $89 one) but, if someone can help to work this out, that’s what we really want. HELP!!

PS: My boss told me to add that, if we don’t hear from someone, we would stop the payment and just cancel the purchase first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you!
