My venues are not saving and appearing, and the maps are not showing up. I’ve turned off all my other plug-ins to check for conflicts but it’s still not working. Using Events Calendar — not Pro, but it used to work and doesn’t work now. Client is frustrated.

It won’t save a saved venue, and it won’t save it if I enter the information.

    Hi James,

Sorry to hear you’ve run into complications. Can you please send over exact step-by-step instructions I need to follow to reproduce the behavior? Please include which plugins I need to have active to reproduce the behavior. Lastly, can you confirm you reviewed the Testing for conflicts guide to rule out both theme and plugin conflicts? If not, please do so any let me know what you learn.

Lastly, your System Information initially came through strangely formatted. Can you resend over your System Information as a private reply?

Thanks and have a great remainder of the day. Cheers!

    Thanks for your response, Hunter.

I’ve replicated my site in a staging area to test. I’ve turned off all
plug-ins other than Events Calendar (4.3.5) and I’ve switched the theme to
2014 as per instructions in opening a ticket.

Here’s the process to replicate the problem:

    – Go to Events
    – Open the event in question
    – Scroll down to Location
    – Select a Saved Venue from the dropdown list (or create a new venue
    altogether)
    – Update the page

The Saved Venue I’ve chosen (or the new Venue I’ve added) is not saved and
I end up with a blank form under location. My system information is below.

I’d like to send you my system info in a private reply. How do I do that?

    Welcome back!

Thank you for the update. If you visit the System Information page, it goes over the process of gathering and sending over the needed info. Please make sure it’s sent as a private reply.

Can you recall when the issue started? Was it possibly the last update or has it been going on for awhile? I would manually revert back version of our plugins to see if you can identify exactly which version the issue appears to come from. You can get prior version on your Downloads page.

Would you mind running through the Testing for conflicts guide? This time, make sure the only plugin active is The Events Calendar. Then, try it once with both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO to see and reply back with what you learn from both tests. Make sure you’re using the default Twenty Seventeen theme.

    Thank you and take care!

    Hey Matthew,

Thank you for your input. I’ll keep an eye on the incoming queue for your thread. Please make sure to review the Testing for conflicts guide and share your System Information as a private reply when initially creating the thread.

I’ll make note of your request for that information from James once I hear back from him. Thanks again and have a great weekend ahead!

    Hi James,

Thank you for sending over the System Information and I hope you had a great Christmas! Please run through the Testing for conflicts guide one more time. Make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page as you try to reproduce the conflict.

I’d also use your browser’s ‘Inspect‘ tool to see if any errors display in the console. This Using the ‘Inspect’ tool to make changes with CSS YouTube video is a great visual example. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.

Thanks again and have a pleasant evening!

    Hunter,

Just to confirm, I ran through all of the instructions in your Testing for Conflicts Guide before I opened this ticket and am still getting the error with no other plug-ins running.

I have enabled WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG in the wp-config file.

I’ll try to install a previous version of your plug in to see if that solves the problem temporarily, but will likely need more help from you on this.

    Hunter,

    Another update…

At your recommendation, I’ve tried every previous version of The Events Calendar that is available for download and the problem persists with all of them. Any other ideas?

I also tried using Chrome’s inspect tool but didn’t see any errors when I updated the page.

Anyone else having this problem? I really need this to work again.

    Welcome back,

Thank you for the updates and taking the time to revert back to previous versions. Forgive me for not catching this sooner, but I noticed you’re running version 5.5.9 of PHP. Our plugin requires you to be running at least version 5.6 in order for things to work properly.

Can you try updating your version of PHP to see if that has any effect on the behavior? I’m not able to reproduce this behavior and I’m not seeing any logged bugs resembling the issue, so this leads me to believe the conflict lies somewhere in your setup. As previously requested, try using a newer version of PHP and review the Testing for conflicts guide once more to make sure there aren’t any theme/plugin conflicts. I would even fire up a completely new installation of WordPress.

Thanks again and have a good evening 🙂

    Hunter,

I’ve upgraded to PHP 7 and run through your Testing for Conflicts Guide yet again. The problem persists.

I also installed The Events Calendar on my own site which is also on PHP 5.5.9 and it appears that this feature works fine in the older version of PHP, so it must be something else. Any other ideas, since we’ve ruled out PHP, Plug-in conflicts, and theme conflicts. Is there any restriction on the number of Event locations that can be saved?

    Hey James,

Thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot the issue so thoroughly. I’m just now finding a bug which might be related to the issue you’re having. Luckily, it’s marked at Priority Level 1, so a fix should be available any day now. I’ve also added this forum thread to the report for the developers to review while making improvements.

There appear to be some differences between the screenshot you shared with me highlighting the issue and the screenshots relating to the screenshots included in the bug report. I’m also unsure you are being affected by the bug due to the fact you’ve reverted back to previous versions and there doesn’t appear to be a difference in behavior.

I’m still unable to reproduce the behavior as you can see by watching the short screencast of my testing.

Please stay tuned to our Release Notes and the plugin changelogs for more information. Thanks again and let me know if you’ve got any additional questions or comments. Cheers!
