    Hey Steve

I’ll check in with a few others as well for additional testing on our end. If we can reproduce the issue, the next questions will be about plugin and theme conflicts.

Can you run through our Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/?  I am wondering if you might have a plugin or theme conflict.

We recommend conducting these tests on a staging server (https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/creating-using-wordpress-staging-site/).

If you are unable to do so, please install the Health Check plugin so that you can effectively disable all plugins without website visitors noticing any changes. See https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/#troubleshooting for how to do this.

Begin by deactivating all other plugins, using a theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and see if the issue still persists.

Also, double check for any other updates available (Dashboard » Updates).

Please send in your System Info https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/ as well after your tests so that we can better diagnose the issues you are having.

Please let me know if the issue still persists after these tests. I’ll check in with a bigger pool of my team to see if anyone else can reproduce this issue.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

Hey Steve, can you test using Chrome’s incognito mode and while you are logged out?

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Hi again Courtney
So I tried the Incognito approach and it worked correctly. Hurrah!
I then opened Firefox, which I rarely use, and it didn’t work. Boo! See video. https://vimeo.com/261843170
    Very confusing.

Does it work in a Firefox private window? It sounds like there is a common extension in the browsers creating the issue.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

In a Firefox private window, it takes me to about halfway up the next page.

    Hey Steve

Do you have any browser extensions/add-ons running, even in private/incognito mode? I’ve had several people on our team all on different systems test this out without beign able to reproduce. We’ve tested in Firefox on Mac and Windows as well.

I’m so sorry we aren’t able to get this narrowed down yet. Thank you for pushing through with me on it.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

We have 3 computers, 2 iPhones and an iPad here at home. It doesn’t work correctly on any of them. And nobody I’ve asked has had it work correctly yet. Very confusing eh?

    Hey Steve

I had an additional 4 people around the globe test for me, all unable to reproduce. This is a tricky one!

Can you check for any console and/or Javascript errors? Please look for this both on the front of your site as well as in the WordPress dashboard. Here’s a quick overview on how to look for that: Using Your Browser to Diagnose JavaScript Errors. There may be a plugin conflict happening while you are logged in specifically. The error message might point us to the conflict. We are suspecting a conflict happens only while logged in.

The only error I’m seeing from the front of your site is that you don’t have a Google Maps API key installed. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-your-google-maps-api-key/

When you’ve tested, have you been logged out? You might need to go back through plugins conflicts testing – all other plugins except ours disabled, using a default theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and logged out.

Also, clearing your browser cache and using incognito/private mode while logged out.

Were your tests within the same internet connection?

Can’t wait to get to the root of this with you. If nothing else, it’s fascinating to figure out where this conflict is happening.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Easter!
So my web design guy had another look and sent me this today:

“I’ve had a chance to have a further look at the issue with the concert listings. I’ve been able to track down the fact that it happens because we are embedding it via a shortcode into a page(/montreal-concerts/), rather than using the default page the plugin uses(/events/). So, two options -1) we use the default page which essentially means the header image will go, and we’ll put a redirect on anything going to /montreal-concerts/ to go to /events/ removing the issue. If you go to montrealrocks.ca/events/ the issue is not present, however, if you click the menu and go to ‘montreal concerts’ the issue is apparent. Plugin people are likely looking at the events page, rather than the montreal-concerts page where it’s actually embedded, which is why they cant re-create the issue. So option 2) is to let them know the above info and see if they can track down the issue from there.”

Let me know what your thoughts are.
    Thanks again
    Steve

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
