The Events Calendar 5.12.1

Summary

Maintenance Release

This updated version of The Events Calendar brings deeper integration with the Gutenberg Block Editor, as well as an Event Status filter option with Filter Bar.

As always, we recommend updating on a staging site, just to be safe, but it should all be smooth sailing.

✨ New

New features included in this release:

  • Added TEC widget-based blocks to the Event Blocks custom block category.
  • Added Event Status filter options when Filter Bar is active.

✅ Fixed

Bugs that were squashed in this release:

  • Added a valid rel value to the link tag for TEC REST API support in order to improve HTML 5 and WCAG 2.1 compliance.
  • Ensured the date selected when creating a new event from the Event Manager is applied to the Block Editor.
  • Properly observe the disabling of JSON-LD output on widget blocks in the block editor.
  • Prevent PHP warning in some cases when fetching the date from tribe_get_display_end_date(). (Props to @huubl for the fix!)
  • Closed a div in the new subscribe dropdown that was left open. (Props to @whoisuncle for bringing this to our attention!)

🔧 Tweaks

A few tweaks we made under the hood:

  • Ensured the Disable the Event Search Bar setting doesn’t get applied on the Event Manager page.
  • Ensured the related events title and event titles within the single event page for the Block Editor make use of the WordPress Customizer font settings.
  • Updated the description text for the “Merge Duplicates” action.
  • Adjusted the Subscribe to Calendar dropdown styling to better accommodate themes with sidebars.
  • Added the Event List and Mini-Calendar widgets to the Event Blocks category.
  • Corrected some incorrect template paths in docblocks.
