Barry, I’ve updated the file and had to revert back to the previous code. After I saved the file and checked the website, the entire website was one blank white page – no header, footer or menus.

Thanks Barry, here’s the fata error:

Catchable fatal error: Object of class stdClass could not be converted to string in /home/sites/advantage.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/tribe-template-factory.class.php on line 265

Thanks Barry, but that didn’t work. It’s still the same: http://www.advantage.co.uk/events/category/charity-finance-accounting/ I’ve located the file in the hosting panel, replaced the entire code in that file with the code provided and saved it. It does’nt seem to have made any difference.

Thanks for your response Barry. For now, I will stick with the current plugin, but would hope that this is resolved by the end of 2013 at the latest, otherwise I have no option but to drop Events Calendar Pro in Q1 next year.

Disappointing. I would have thought an error like this would have been a top priority for the Events Calendar Pro. After all, it worked fine before it was updated to the latest version.

The next question is, whilst 404’s are flooding Google Webmaster tools, will this have a negative impact on my website? I’ve been working on improving our presence in the SERPs over the past 18 months and don’t want to see this go to waste, or should I look for an alternative calendar plugin?

Hi, I currently have (since we updated about 8 weeks ago) 42,986 404 not found errors in Google Webmaster tools. I can’t seem to get rid of them. I’ve updated the Pro version to the latest release – Version 3.1 and running WordPress version 3.7. Do you know how long it will be before this issue is fixed? I’m due to renew the license key for this plugin, but reluctant to do so with all the hassle it’s causing and no definitive date or urgency around the issue from Modern Tribe.

Thanks Barry. I’m still not sure which folder to put this into. Would it work if I put it in ecp-single-template.php ?

    Hi,
I’m also getting this same issue – Google Webmaster has 13,000 404 Not Founds for non-existent event urls. I’m looking to add the code in the website folder as you mentioned in a previous reply http://pastebin.com/ruBH42wP, but can’t find which folder to edit – does ecp-single-template.php sound right? Also, how much of that code do I paste – all of it or just sections?

    Hi Peter,
Yep, I emailed support last year about this as one of the reasons I upgraded to the Pro version was (hopefully) for something like this but then became apparent you couldn’t add events like this. I was told 12 months ago it was in the future pipeline but would have hoped it would have moved forward since then.

    Thanks for the comments.

In my settings it’s already Default Page Template and yes, these events were there before the update. I daren’t add any new ones just yet in case it unearths any other issues.

I know when we first installed the plugin about 12 months ago we had problems with reoccurring events and to be honest I hate this feature as you are restricted to how events reoccur. For example, if I have a webinar I want to run this week and in 6 weeks time I have to follow a crazy rule to make it reoccur such as every fourth Friday…. Surely the simplest thing would be to repost the event but then that’s duplicate content which defeats the purpose of trying to improve the website in the SERPs. I can’t understand why there isn’t a field on the calendar where you can just type dates in for it to take place without some kind of rule. Surely I’m not the only marketer that finds this frustrating?

    Kind regards,

    Ryan Sedgwick.

    Hi Ray,
No, it still appears on the reocurring events: http://www.advantage.co.uk/event/webinar-inbound-document-management-for-dynamics/2013-09-26/ Still looking for a fix.

    Regards,
    Ryan

    Hi,

I’m also having the same issue with my reoccuring events. I’m also getting a url and the option to “show all” reocurring events in the sequence at the side of the dates which looks untidy: http://www.advantage.co.uk/events/

I’m also looking through the blog to find a resolution to the layout / display problem as you’ll see if you click the link above.

    Kind regards,
    Ryan
