I know that you have no idea what Facebook will or won’t do in the future, but perhaps your product manager or developers have some idea as to which direction Facebook is taking moving forward. Do you anticipate that the Faceook event import functionality will function at all in the future? Is this permanently disabled? Does your team have any plan of action moving forward, regarding this?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    – Justin

Thanks for the reply. This worked for one of the sources, but not for the other.

I deleted all scheduled imports, deleted all events in my calendar, disconnected from Facebook and re-connected from the Events Calendar settings page.

The import is still not working for this group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UVicBallroom/

There is one recurring event, which is not imported. And one one-time event which is not imported.

Here is the events page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UVicBallroom/events/

Here is the recurring event: https://www.facebook.com/events/306216043181053/

Here is the one-time event: https://www.facebook.com/events/696514190534680/

    I’ve updated the plugins:

    Events Calendar: 4.6.6
    Events Calendar Pro: 4.4.19
    Events Calendar Filter Bar: 4.5.1

I tried the imports again and I’m getting “No matching records found”.

But these Facebook groups have future events that were not imported:
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/490693954419117/
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/UVicBallroom/

    Can you tell me why?

Will I be notified here when the bug is fixed? If not, where can I monitor the status of this bug?

Thanks for the reply, but can you give a bit more context on this?

    1. What exactly is the problem? Is it the “type” of Facebook group that I’m trying to import form, or something else? I wonder because I was able to import from some Facebook groups, but not others.

    2. Were these types of import working properly previously and then Facebook changed its API?

    3. I understand that you have no ETA for this being fixed, but was this type of import working before and now something has changed, or is this a new feature being implemented?

    Thank you.

Thanks for the information. I must have missed that in the documentation, as this is quite a surprise! This is very disappointing and a huge limitation, in my opinion.

I see the feature request forum that have automatic imports from Facebook groups is on the “longterm roadmap”. Any ETA on having that completed?

Considering that this operation works manually, surely it must be easy to get the import to happen automatically. Can you explain why there is difficulty?

Is there a workaround that we use to get this work in the meantime? Can we set up a cron job or something to have the code activated externally?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    – Justin

When I switch to Twenty-Sixteen theme, the problem does NOT arise. So, it definitely appears to be a problem with the theme I’m using.

That said, Avada is the #1 most popular WordPress theme on ThemeForest, which is (I believe) the largest seller of premium WordPress themes. So, I would think it would be well worth your time to get your shortcode to work with this theme, or at least find out what the conflict is, so we can inform the Avada team.

I have switched my active theme to Twenty-Sixteen and you can see it here now: http://dancecalendar.ca

    2) I tested by switching to a default theme (Twenty Fourteen, I believe), and disabling all non-Events Calendar plugins.

    3) Currently no traffic at all. The site is under development.

I’m familiar with these types of pseudo-cron schedulers. I’m assuming the way it works is to delay the import for the scheduled duration (e.g. 1 hour), then wait till someone visits the site, and then to perform an import when they do. Is that correct?

My site is hosted at HostGator. I have cpanel access and can set up a cron job. Is there a way to activate the import directly?

That’s really unhelpful. This was working earlier, and now it’s not, though I am using the same theme. How would I go about diagnosing / troubleshooting the problem?
