    Good morning Brook,

I gave this a try on our staging site and it works great for both List and Month views! Thank you! If we also wanted to apply this functionality to Day and Map views, would that be possible? Or since Map view displays the Google Map, would there potentially be issues there?

    Kind regards,
    Karly

    Hi Nico,

Thanks for your reply and this suggestion. I tried adding this to my functions.php file (added a couple ending brackets to the snippet) but unfortunately it causes the Tribe Events Bar search options to disappear. Is there something that should be changed in the snippet?

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the continued discussion on this. I am indeed looking to load the next/prev links without ajax. I also want to disable ajax when initiating a search via either the Tribe Events Bar’s “Find Events” button or the “Submit” button in the Filter Bar.

Brook, just to confirm, are you saying the above JS snippet you provided should work fine for loading the next/prev links without ajax? Or does your snippet also disable the Filter Bar?

Adis, if you are able to figure out a solution I’d be interested in hearing about it, although it sounds like a hook would need to be added to core in order for a stable solution to be crafted?

    Hi Brook,

Appreciate the background info on this. When you say that sites were breaking each time the plugin was updated, was that simply because it was a complicated tutorial and the users were unable to correctly implement the modification? Or was disabling AJAX actually breaking The Events Calendar? Just want to ensure it was user error and not breaking the plugin itself before I look into hiring someone to tackle this customization.

With that said, if you guys still have the tutorial available for disabling AJAX in TEC, would you be able to share that privately via direct email (or would it no longer be applicable to 4.0+ of TEC)? If it should still work when implemented correctly, I understand that there would be no support provided for it.

    Thank you.

Thanks Cliff. Just wanted to clarify that my original bug report was for the Event Website URL (the URL that appears in the Event’s Details section). But good to know that you’ve confirmed the bug also exists for the other URLs (Venue, Organizer and Additional Fields).

    Hi George,

Yes, we have reset file permissions. Also, we have confirmed this bug still exists on a local install (which should eliminate WP Engine being the source of the problem). We are launching at the end of this month, so we are not working on our Production site; only the staging site. That’s why we went ahead and tested on a local install – to ensure it wasn’t a problem within the staging site.

Although the fix was apparently included in 4.0.1, was it actually verified on a live install? If so, wpshindig must not be running the latest version? Because the issue is present there as well 🙂

Looking forward to your response, as this is a potential roadblock to our launch later this month!

    Thank you.

    Hi George,

Okay thanks for confirming. We’ll just edit the source code in the meantime.

    Hi Barry,

Thanks for taking the time to look that code over and for providing a corrected version; it works great! And totally understand that your team doesn’t typically offer complete solutions for customization’s – that’s be a lot of work for what we pay for the plugins.

Just a thought…perhaps another revenue funnel could be offering a “premium” level of support. In exchange for an annual membership, the user would have access to any snippets your team had created thus far. For an additional fee, a user could submit a request for a new snippet to be created (which would be added to the snippet library, available to only current premium members). Since the snippets would likely change as new versions of the plugin are released, there would be incentive for users to renew their “premium” membership to ensure they can continue using the customization’s as they update to the newest version of the plugins. I’m sure some outsource for customization’s, but it could be something of interest for the non-technical users that want to tweak TEC a bit more but don’t want to be bothered hiring a 3rd party to do the work (who would likely need to charge more to account for the time it’d take them to get acquainted with TEC codebase). Anyways, that’s my idea of the day. Feel free to share with the team or discard!

    Best,
    Karly

I did update both functions, so I’m stumped as to what is causing the issue now. Here’s the current code, including the two revised functions with your earlier suggestion: http://pastebin.com/QvvZv0z9

    Hi Barry,

Thank you for this suggestion and the detailed instructions. I gave it a try, but unfortunately the times are still being changed when an error message is returned. Now, the end time that is entered is being set as the start time, and the end time is being set as 5pm. For example, if I enter 5:00am for the start time and 11:00am for the end time, the times displayed when the page is reloaded are 11:00am – 5:00pm. A second example would be 6:15pm – 7:30pm being changed to 7:30pm – 5:00pm.

Any other thoughts on how we might be able to get this fixed? Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend!

As mentioned before, the end user can easily get into an endless loop if they do not enter a required field when submitting their event (simply because most will fix the missing required fields but it will understandably not occur to them that their organizer information was erased and/or that a blank organizer was added, which returns another error when they try to resubmit). So we’re really hoping that a fix can be released shortly, as we are unable to use Community Events in the meantime.

Otherwise than this lingering issue, 4.0.1 seems to have fixed the other key problems with the Submit an Event form, so thank you for that!
