Thanks Brian. As we are launching soon, can you please confirm if 4.0.1 is due to be released by the end of this month?

Okay that’s good to hear a fix is on the way. Is this fix (so all fields retain their value on a required field error) set to be released in the next maintenance release, 4.0.1?

I’m not sure if it occurred in 3.12 as we didn’t start testing/QA until 4.0 beta was available.

Thank you very much Geoff! This seems to have fixed the issue based on our initial testing. We appreciate the prompt attention to this. Another example of awesome support from the Tribe!

Thanks for the update Geoff. Glad to hear that the fix previously existed (as opposed to it needing to be patched from scratch!). We’ll be looking forward to the maintenance release, but if your developer is able to come up with a workaround/snippet before then, that would be extremely helpful as we are unable to finish the QA for our project while the bug exists. Thanks again!

Thanks Geoff. Since the issue was fixed in 3.12.6, it probably is just a matter of merging the code. But if a fix won’t be released in the coming days, can you please ask what code was changed in 3.12.6 (which had originally fixed this issue) so that we can manually resolve the problem on our install prior until the patch released? Thank you!

Updated to the official 4.0 release and found that this issues persists on a clean local install as well (WordPress 4.3.1, Twenty Fifteen Theme, and only TEC, PRO, Community Events and Filter Bar plugins installed).

When an anonymous user submits an event, they cannnot create a new Venue or Organizer. The user can select an existing Venue from the dropdown, but it defaults to selecting the existing Venue (thus no way for the user to add a new Venue).

For the Organizer, the meta fields are not displayed, including the Use Saved Organizer dropdown. The only content that is displayed in the Organizer module is “add another organizer. Upon clicking that option, the user can enter data in the fields. However, the content is not saved when the form is submitted.

    Hi Brian,

That’s great news that the only changes would be bug fixes. We’ll inform our contractor that we’ll be able to start making customizations as soon as the beta is available.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying. We’ll be on the lookout for a notification.

In the meantime, hoping you can help with one question. We are going to be hiring a 3rd party to do some customizations to TEC, PRO, Filter Bar and Community Events. We were previously informed that there would be some changes coming in 4.0 that would not be backwards-compatible, and that making customization’s based on the current version (3.12) might mean the custom work would be broken when 4.0 is released.

So, once we are able to access and review the beta for 4.0, would you guys say we’d be just as safe to use that as a starting point for our custom work as waiting for the official 4.0 release? All changes/additions we’d be having done would be via either a child theme or custom plugin. So basically we just want to confirm that, other than bug fixes, there shouldn’t be any changes from the beta codebase to the official 4.0 release that would alter which functions, hooks, etc we would want to target and use to accomplish our changes and additions.

    Thank you,
    Karly

    Hi Brian,

There were some notes on the site about the Beta going live last Thursday Nov 5, so glad to hear that we didn’t miss some time.

Unfortunately, we tried signing up for an account on the beta site this morning, and never received an email with the login credentials (password). We even tried requesting a password reminder, which also says it been sent to our email, but have yet to receive any.

We’d love to help start testing, but obviously can’t do that if we can’t log in to the beta site (and download the beta code from our account on theeventscalendar.com).

    Please advise. Thank you.

Okay, the issue was the Community Events needed to be downgraded as well, not just The Events Calendar. After downgrading Community Events to 3.12, the submit button is now functioning again. Thanks for helping get this addressed while a true fix is in the works.

    We’re anxiously awaiting the 4.0 beta! 🙂

Also, downgrading to 3.12.3 deactivates Community Events and it cannot be reactivated without updating to 3.12.5 (“To begin using The Events Calendar: Community Events, please install the latest version of The Events Calendar.” appears on the Plugins page).

    Hi Brian,

Thanks. I actually had already tried downgrading to The Events Calendar 3.12.3, but the issue still was present with that version. Went through the deactivation/manual update/reactivation. Even went through it twice just to be sure, but the issue persists.

Would we need to downgrade any of the add-ons as well (e.g. PRO or Filter Bar)? We have TEC 3.12.3 installed now so you can see the issue in action if you’d like.

    Thanks,

John, thanks for that suggestion. I had hoped that would fix this issue as well, but unfortunately, it did not resolve it. We’ll have to see what the folks at TEC have to say. Perhaps in addition to the core Events Calendar plugin, one or more of the add-ons need to be downgraded as well.

Regarding the “Use Javascript to control date filtering” checkbox, you can find that by going to the General tab of The Events Calendar Settings page.

Perfect! I’m not too familiar with media queries (other than knowing the term), so this saved me some time!

    Have a great weekend,
