ParticipantWhen submitting an event via the Community Events Submit an Event form, the Event Website URL field allows the field to be submitted with the following formats:
http://example.com (OK)
http://www.example.com (OK)
www .example.com (bug)
example.com (bug)While Additional Fields that are set to “URL” do have “http://” prepended to them (if they are not included in the text entered into the field), the Event Website URL field does not. This causes Event Website URLs submitted as “www.example.com” or “example.com” to be considered as being on the same domain as the website that hosts the calendar (www.myurl.com), thus making the URLs invalid (http://myurl.com/event/event-title/www.example.com).
The workaround is obviously for the administrator to manually edit the fields and add “http://” to the field, but I wanted to make you aware of this issue so that a fix can be included in an upcoming maintenance release. Thanks.

MemberHi Karly.
Thanks for reporting this bug. I have confirmed it in both our old version 3.12.6 and our latest version 4.0.2.
The URL validation does NOT work on the Community Events front-end form for PRO Additional Field or for Organizer Website field or for Venue Website field.
However, editing an event via wp-admin (i.e. not Community Events) does apply validation to the PRO Additional URL field.
I have logged this bug internally and our developers will review it. However, there are no guarantees for when a fix may be released.

ParticipantThanks Cliff. Just wanted to clarify that my original bug report was for the Event Website URL (the URL that appears in the Event’s Details section). But good to know that you’ve confirmed the bug also exists for the other URLs (Venue, Organizer and Additional Fields).

MemberHey Karly!
Just wanted to jump in here and let you know that we released Events Calendar PRO 4.0.6 and Community Events 4.0.3 last night and they both included a fix for this issue. Please check your WordPress updates, or you can also grab the latest copy by logging into this site and heading to My Account > Downloads.
Thanks for your patience while we worked on this! Please feel free to open a new thread if you continue to experience the same issue or have any other questions that pop up during updating and we’d be happy to help. 🙂
Cheers!
