July 23, 2016 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Hundreds of events created for each day of recurring event – how can I delete #1143459JohnParticipant
Hi Jeff, I had the same problem, but only 7120 recurrences of one event.
I opened the first event (by date) of the recurring event causing the problem.
Opened Event
Edit all (Edit single, Edit Upcoming)
Message with progress bar > “Recurring event data is still being generated for this event. Don’t worry, you can safely navigate away – the process will resume in a bit in the background.” appears and was progressly slowly. So, I went home and today it was complete.I noticed the long sought “Rebuild Recurrence” link at the very bottom of the event page.
Rebuild Recurrence
To rebuild recurrence for the event, click here.Clicked it and fairly quickly for me, it removed the 7120 recurrences, without messing up the original event recurrences.
Hope you can solve your problem. Hang in there.
JohnParticipantWe’ve found the problem. One of our recurring events has created approximately 7120 instances of the event for December 5, December 12, December 19, December 26.
What would the best way to remove them?

JohnParticipantThank you for your insights Brook. I understand the problem better now. Yes, we are using WP Engine. Great Sleuthing 🙂
We have roughly 90 to 120 classes and events each month.
I think the error message is generated when anyone views are monthly calendar. In this case July.
I notice this in the error code: …wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Template/Month.php:491)
and noticed another error with “Month.php:492.” Does 491 and 492 depict different months? When I begin viewing subsequent months, the December calendar freezes and doesn’t load.
It would be a loss not be able to show all our classes. If we used less tags would that help?

JohnParticipantYes, there’s a config-events-calendar folder within the Enfold theme.
Enfold supports Events Calendar and has created 2 advanced layout elements that work with it:
Upcoming Events and Events Countdown.JohnParticipantIn checking for conflicts on the staging site – I activated the Enfold theme.
Now when viewing a Recurring Event (See all) page:
« Previous Events / Next Events » links do not appear at bottom of the page. So, it must be a conflict with the theme.
JohnParticipantI’m in the process of testing for conflicts on a staging site.
I just went back to the live site to re-check. What I notice on the live site is that « Previous Events Next Events » is not showing up on the bottom of the page.
I’ll continue on with testing the staging site.
JohnParticipantOK, I’m starting again. How is view all supposed to work?
JohnParticipantI retested, added a comment to an event page and was redirect to the page with the comment showing. Don’t know why, but after a few plugin updates it’s now working fine 🙂

JohnParticipantI’m testing this problem in a staging environment and have turned off all plugins but the Events Calendar and Pro plugins. I’ve also deactivated my theme and installed 2016. In this configuration the “Event comment redirect” is working 🙂
Will activate original theme and retest. Then activate plugins one by one, testing all the way.
JohnParticipantYes, I’m using multisite.
JohnParticipantBrian
My procedures:
Testing for Conflicts
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/[[*]] Test if there is a conflict
[x] 1) Switch to the Twenty Thirteen theme
* Multisite will have to activate theme in individual site to test
[x] 2) Disable all plugins except Tribe Events plugins
[x] 3) Clear your browser cache, and retest
* Chrome: 3 dashes icon (upper right) > Settings > History > Cached images and files
Clear browsing dataProblem repeated itself: 404 error (not found) Multisite?
