Geoff,
When I saw your reply I thought “How embarrassing! How can I be so stupid?”
So I logged in and tried myself. Initially I didn’t see the ability to add the image.
Then I thought “Is there another way to do this? Have I (and all my users who have tried) been doing it wrong?”
Had another go and discovered the link.
So I think the problem is the wrong way is more intuitive than the right way.
Here is what I think the issue is. When you log in you are presented with the ADMIN BAR. On the admin bar there is an EVENTS menu with the option of ADD under it. If you go this way there is no link to the Featured Image.
If in the other hand, you navigate through the site from the Footer to Submit an Event, then hit the create an event link etc. you get to the COMMUNITY ADD EVENT.
So I feel the “WRONG” way if more in your face than the “RIGHT” way.
Do you have any thoughts how I can make the RIGHT way more obvious to the users?
Regards,
Glenn.

Thanks.

GlennParticipantGeorge,
Removing Event Rocket without providing alternant solutions for what it provides is not ideal. I was using Event Rocket to display the Photo’s page as the landing page. Also to provide [event_embed categories = “LongRun” limit=7] to list some photo views as a widget. (This is also ongoing currently). Event Rocket needs to stay until we sort out solutions for what it was doing.

This was the discussion to get the redirect working. It is what I implemented. I’m 90% sure that the page title for the site did not include “Events Archive”. (So 10% chance it has always been there and I just didn’t notice it.)There is no page called Events and there don’t appear to be any slugs of that name either.
I will attach my unedited system info – but I really want to edit it now for some reason! 🙂

Glenn.
GlennParticipantGeorge,
Thanks for the reply.
The “Simpler Solution” had some side effects. Pictures were added to the Event Calendar widget which wasn’t ideal.
I’m OK to try and modify the template but I am confused as to what I am changing (as in what file I want to change). Also I would want to make a unique instance of it so I can call it only for the area I want it to appear – and not have adverse effects in other areas.
So basically what I am after is the Photo View which can be placed in the widget area. It will include the Image, Title, date/time and reoccurrence details, description limited to X characters with link to article. IE – exactly what Event Rocket is doing. 🙂
Is there a way I can pull this single procedure from Event rocket to live as a stand-alone file(s)???
Or is there another way I can achieve this?
Thanks!
Glenn.
GlennParticipantThanks Abigail,
I think the change I made previously was to resolve another issue, so this might have been introduced with 4.2 as you mentioned.
For those playing along at home this is how I resolved it (Based on Abigail’s suggestion)
Added
/* =Theme customization for removing 60% text in Photo view -------------------------------------------------------------- */ .tribe-events-loop .tribe-events-content { float: left; padding: 0 5% 0 0; width: 100%; }
To style.css in my child theme directory.
All sorted now.
Thanks!
Glenn.

GlennParticipantHi George,
Thanks for the reply. I’m not too sure this is what I am looking for.
For events that are on EVERY DAY and run for a LONG time I add them to the Category “LongRun” and they are EXCLUDED from the main photo view and included in a widget that only shows “LongRun”.
As it is at the moment using the Event Rocket tag
[event_embed categories = "LongRun" limit=7]
it works exactly as I like it. With photos! 🙂Using your example I think it is more for adding specific events (one at a time) and it would need to be maintained to achieve the outcome I am getting with the Event Rocket solution. Let me know if my assumption is incorrect.
[tribe_events_list categories = "LongRun" limit=7]
Is close but doesn’t include the images.Thoughts?

I deactivated each of the plugins one at a time and tested the Add New Event page. In each case the Add Featured Image was not displayed. Then, just in case, I deactivated all except your 3 and still it was not displayed.
In your testing were using a users with the “Subscriber” role? As I see the link if I am logged in with an “Administrator” role.

Glenn.

GlennParticipantGeoff – Thx for the reply. I’m having grief editing the post so the link works.
Anyway – I’m ok to wait until then as activating event rocket seems to have it working again.
