I am using Event Rocket to display 2 (or 3+ depending on monitor size) columns of photo events. Since the update to WP it does not work on Safari. The content is there – just invisible. You can hover the mouse over it and see the url. Click on them works OK.

    Thoughts?

Also – is this result possible without Event Rocket as I see it has moved to an Unsupported status.

    Good morning Glenn,

Welcome back and thank you for your question.

You are right, Event Rocket is no longer supported since version 4.0.

Also – is this result possible without Event Rocket as I see it has moved to an Unsupported status.

Great news, we just tested out the Photo view in Safari and it works!

Just out of curiosity, which version of the Events Calendar Pro are you using ?
The reason I am asking is because yesterday’s release (4.0.3) solved exactly that issue.

Hopefully this helps sort it out.

Is there anything else I can help you with ?

    Regards,
    Geoff B.

    Geoff, Thanks for your reply.

Welcome back and thank you for your question.

The holiday is over… I’m back!

Great news, we just tested out the Photo view in Safari and it works!

Not with mine. I’m running 4.0.3. But it wasn’t working after updating my WP to 4.4. The http://onin.sydney test site is still on the old versions and works OK but http://onin.melbourne is not rendering the front page.

I also noticed the following errors:

Dec 24, 00:46:58	PHP Fatal error: Class 'Tribe__Notice' not found in /path/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/Templates/Map.php on line 95
Dec 24, 00:52:08	PHP Fatal error: Class 'Tribe__Notice' not found in /path/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/Templates/Map.php on line 95

Don’t know if they are causing any issues.

I’m not even sure how to troubleshoot the errors with safari. It works fine with Chrome and Firefox.

OK – Did you get this far? Then ignore most of that above. I deleted the cache and it is working. šŸ™ (Is cache really worth all the trouble it causes?)

    So my question now is:
    1. Are the errors a concern?
    2. How do I reproduce the frontpage layout without Event Rocket?

No rush – enjoy your Christmas break. (We are expecting 35oC or 95oF so will probably be enjoying a BBQ by the pool!)

    Regards,

    Glenn.

Just an update: I visited the site and the problem re-appeared. Removed cache and it was OK. Unusual as I had already removed the cache.

I then updated to 4.04 and the problem happened again. This time deleting the cache doesn’t resolve it.

It is also not showing up on the iPad. Internet Explorer on Win 10 works OK.

Good evening Glenn and happy new year!

I actually had answered your previous query but somehow it disappeared (sorry about that!).

So here’s the long overdue initial answer (as well as some questions to help you get to the bottom of your current issue).
To keep things simple, I’ll answer your second post separately.

    Caching:

Yes, it is totally worth the trouble (but I agree, sometimes it can drive you insane).
One thing that is good to know is that different caching engines react differently with different web hosts, WordPress themes and plugins.

Personally, I tend to deactivate and flush the cache prior to every plugin or WordPress update.

    Errors:

Yes, any error should always warrant investigation. At least until we can find out what the cause is.

I will be glad to help you get to the bottom of that.
But to set expectations, it might require a bit of back and forth between us to isolate the issue and find a solution.

ButĀ before we do that, I have a question : are you still runningĀ Event Rocket at this point ?

As a first step for troubleshooting, could you please complete the first 2 sections of the following link (Test if there is a conflict andĀ Find the source of a conflict) ?

Having the calendar as your home page without Event Rocket:

The easiest way to accomplish this (although not ideal) is by using a redirect plugin.

You can find out more about it by reading the last 2 paragraphs of this page.

On another note, please enjoy the nice weather for us.
Here it’s more like -25oC which is not awesome for BBQ, but great for maple toffee!

I’ll be right back with the answer to your second set of questions.

    Hello again Glenn,

I am more and more convincedĀ that you are indeed still using Event Rocket.
If that is the case, there is a strong chance this is the culprit.

The good news is we should be able to find that out when you go through the steps of “Find the source of a conflict”.

Regarding the iPad issue, what would help is if you could send me your system information:

    1. Navigate to “Events -> Settings” in your WordPress backend
    2. Find the “Help” tab and navigate to the bottom of the page
    3. Copy and Paste your System information in a private reply

Looking forward to hear from you!

    Have a great morning,

    Geoff B.
