MacParticipant
Does it show the patched-up-community-events-captcha plugin as active or inactive? What version of WP are you on?
MacParticipantSomeone smarter than me might have created the patched-up-community-events-captcha folder and saved the .php file in it before uploading the folder into the plugins folder. I said smarter. Not better looking.
MacParticipantJared, I think I can do that since I’m a layman! š
Hereās the process I used (we already had Really Simple Captcha installed in tandem with Contact Form 7):
1. Backed the site up.
2. Using cPanel (or FTP) Created a new folder in the /wp-contents/plugins folder and named it patched-up-community-events-captcha
3. copied the code Casey provided and pasted into Notepad and saved file as patched-up-community-events-captcha.php
4. uploaded the patched-up-community-events-captcha.php file into the newly created patched-up-community-events-captcha folder
5. Activated plugin from the wp-admin control panel>> installed plugins
6. testedMacParticipantBoom. Casey is The Man. Your code solved my spam issue.
MacParticipantThe plugin code worked. Casey Driscoll is The Man. We were getting 20+ and increasing spam events. None since the plugin was installed. Here’s the process I used (we already had Really Simple Captcha installed in tandem with Contact Form 7):

MacParticipantDoes anyone have a hack for the community events submission form to add a captcha element?
MacParticipantHi Barry,
We do daily backups on one of the sites I’ve installed ecp on and weekly backups on all other sites (more than 200). Yes, believe it or not, we do know how to restore that backup but I bill on value and my customers receive no value from having to fix failed plugin updates. On free plugins such failures are more tolerable. On premium plugins not so.
In that regard The Events Calendar and our other plugins are really no different to any other plugin/theme/core WP update and donāt carry any particularly greater risks.
Based on experience I have to disagree. I think this is an area that the Tribe can really improve on.
You folks have the makings of a great suite of plugins here and I eagerly await the improvements necessary to broaden our use of it. An immediate improvement suggestion is for you to use language a little more sympathetic than:Hi. I bet your were hoping to download something awesome.
Perhaps the meaning of life? Perhaps a 50c Ringtone? The sad news is that for whatever reason, that isnāt going to happen right now.
Either you donāt have a license for the product youāre trying to download, it expired, or something went horribly awry with our system.
Donāt freak out! We can help you:
[link to our support forum & twitter]Thanks for the info on my license. It appears there is a conflict. Perhaps due to restoring a previous backup?
MacParticipantAs annoying as the warning that my ecp license is expired I can’t afford to put my clients at risk for any failure during update. I keep checking here hoping for good news. Hopefully someone from the Tribe team can post an All Clear when it is safe to update?
MacParticipantRoger, I think the ideal sequence would be to update the PRO plugin first, then the addons and then The Events Calendar. I had similar problems to yours except my PRO license had expired Oct 18 and the update was my reminder. I was getting the red alert and the theme layout was thrown out of whack when viewing Venues. I did save $30 by renewing my license today. š But I had several hours of nonbillable nonproductive hours that threw a wrench in my needed-to-be production schedule. š The remedy was not to use the update plugin function but to deactivate and delete the PRO 2.0.9 version then download and manually install the new PRO plugin. There was no loss of data and everything seems to work fine. Layout issue resolved.
MacParticipantHow to revert to 2.0.9? ASAP. You guys really need to work on notification of dependencies when you push an upgrade for the free plugin through the loop. Security conscious folks tend to be expedient on upgrades. A note that told us that updating Calendar Events would then require updating PRO and Community Events premium plugins would have been professional and courteous. AND… providing a link to expired licenses with no form of action for renewal is a disservice. There is a broken short code of some sort there. THEN… I see comments in this forum that indicates bugs that affect critical areas such as layout and function. Come on!
MacParticipanthttp://dekalbcountyonline.com/events/ is now set to Default Page Template. That won’t work as you can see. […] I inserted the default calendar template into the iframe because it blended the events calendar into the theme for best appearance.
Info on builder theme http://ithemes.com/purchase/builder-theme/
I’d set up temporary keys to the site, if necessary. What email would I send those keys to.
MacParticipantEvents 1.6.5 to 2.0. I just purchased the pro addon. I did not have any previous pro version.
MacParticipantI did not have to customize previously. The Builder theme works with modules. For the events I used a layout with an html module and inserted the events calendar page into the module as part of an iframe. That no longer works with the upgrade.
MacParticipantHave not had time to customize yet so I entered some html in the leading box in the settings. I assumed 2.0.1 because I just bought the addon. I upgraded to 2.0 from a previous version. On this site I usually upgrade ASAP or as soon as notified. I have no idea why it is displaying the wrong month. It worked well before the upgrade.
