December 4, 2013 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Can't use WPEngines staging because we don't have a second install… #80195d20games
ParticipantSo here is the problem. The whole idea of the staging site is to do those upgrades, see if they work, and then transfer that version of the site over to be the live site. So how would that work under this scenario?
1)I would need the source for downloads for the latest (ie upgrade) versions of the plugin,
2)I would install them without the license codes.
3)I would see if everything worked
4)then I would move the staged version of the site to replace the live version
5)Go in and re-install the Keys?
This is a pretty frustrating way to have this work, enough to frankly make it too much of a hassle to do. If I use a multi-site version of the plugin, does that have a single key, or multiple keys? (that would solve the problem, although be an expensive/stupid way to do it)Also, if I was (as I am) using the Eventbrite plugin, do I run into problems with multiple instances of the same wordpress site trying to validate and communicate with eventbrite?

ParticipantHere is the code snippet..
?php
/**
* Events Pro Mini Calendar Widget:
* modified to remove the grid and show only the list.
*/if ( !defined(‘ABSPATH’) ) { die(‘-1’); } ?>

ParticipantI have a similar problem, but with the Staging area in WP Engine. If I go to do the upgrade in the staging area, it thinks of it as a different install and then runs out of keys. Kind of kills the point of a staging area. What can I do?

ParticipantWhat maintenance mode plugin do you like?

ParticipantI’ve also been having a huge amount of CPU using that I’ve been trying to track down…this is the first thing that seems to make sense. I’m at the point of just bagging the Event Calendar for something else. The way reoccurring events are handled, particularly with eventbrite, is a huge problem for me.

ParticipantI\’m not a coder, so there is a big leap between modifying options and rolling my own. In terms of the second answer, I guess the bigger question is what widgets work with the event data that is generated by the Events Calendar? Frankly, it’s unclear to me if this is a “standard\ data set for events that other calendar widgets could use, or if (more likely) the events created are in a format unique to The Events Calendar, so that what I\’m looking for are modifications of the existing widgets or a third party who has coded their own but is pulling specifically from your data set.
For now, is there an easy way to remove the Calendar part of the Calendar Widget? The list that comes with that view is much closer to what I want.
Finally, is there a way to try and find someone to code this up for me. I\’m a single person retail shop, so money is a fairly big issue, but I really need this.
Since the modification of the Events Calendar widget is such a selling feature, I was hoping that there was some shared repository or place for exchange of such modifications so that we are not all starting from scratch each time if there is someone else who has done what we are looking for.
I found a few things on Github that were over 6 months old.

ParticipantUpdate…I removed and reinstalled the Events Cal and the events cal pro. It was working for a moment until I updated one of the reoccurring items. Then it went back to showing it wrong.

ParticipantYes. running 2.0.11 and no, i’ve made no modifications to the plugin. Where would the the code for the plugin be? I wanted to mess with it…hoping to get more control for the formatting, but I’m not a coder. In the meantime, I have a royal mess to deal with trying to work around the problems with dealing with reoccurring events and eventbrite integration. I’m currently using Duplicate TEC Event to work around the problems with viewing the duplicate events wrong and to be able to exclude dates in a reoccurrence string.
