AgnesParticipantHi Cliff,
just wanted to give an update. i FINALLY figured out that it was WooCommerce that was causing the problem. The currency in WooCommerce (which I hadn’t set up because we’re not selling product yet) was overriding the currency in the Events Calendar.
Thanks for your time and help!
AgnesParticipantHi Cliff,
Thank you so much for your reply!
Yes, I’m talking about the “Default currency symbol” option at wp-admin > Events > Settings > General tab. And sorry, I meant the default POUNDS (£) symbol.
Interesting that the system information reports “defaultCurrencySymbol = $”, it is still showing “£”. Currently I am on a different computer using a different browser (I use chrome at home and firefox at work), signed out then signed in, and the same phenomenon is still occurring. Every time I try to save the “$” in wp-admin > Events > Settings > General tab, when the settings refresh a “£” is still there and no changes have been made to the site.
I have used CSS to hide the prices temporarily until I get this sorted out. Any suggestions?
Thank you again!
AgnesParticipantI heard back from WP ROCKET, they said the following and told me to ask you about the following:
The options table almost 700MB, and it’s probably not normal, so it could be good to have a good look at it to understand why it’s so big.
A big options table can slow down a website a lot!
For your events page, there is an error which could explain why it’s showing as a blank page when WP Rocket is active on it
WordPress database error Unknown column ‘EventStartDate’ in ‘order clause’ for query SELECT wp_tym7cv_posts.ID FROM wp_tym7cv_posts WHERE 1=1 AND wp_tym7cv_posts.post_type = ‘tribe_events’ AND (wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘publish’ OR wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘tribe-ea-success’ OR wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘tribe-ea-failed’ OR wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘tribe-ea-schedule’ OR wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘tribe-ea-pending’ OR wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘tribe-ea-draft’ OR wp_tym7cv_posts.post_status = ‘private’) ORDER BY EventStartDate DESC, wp_tym7cv_posts.post_date DESC LIMIT 0, 1
HALP!
AgnesParticipantOne more thing though, related to caching. I’ve tried a few caching plugins
and none of them seem to work. I have WP Rocket installed now, and it was
working for awhile, but I had to remove caching from the events pages
(where we REALLY need caching since we have over 200 events displaying for
the month view) because it just won’t load. Just a white screen. What up
with that? Either we have incredibly slow loading and our audience
navigates away because of slow loading times, or we have no calendar. There
must be a way around this. Or I’m doing something wrong? Thanks again for your help!
AgnesParticipantYAY! It worked! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

AgnesParticipantHi Hunter,
First, I’d like to thank you for replying so quickly. MT has been really quick to reply to most of my issues as of late, so thank you so much for the effort! It’s very much appreciated. 🙂
The filter bar mysteriously started working again yesterday. Didn’t touch anything, don’t know why. But to respond to your comments/questions: the venues that weren’t showing up DID have upcoming events, and the setting is set to “checkboxes.” The only pattern I could see was that it was the last few venues (in alphabetical order, around V-Z) that weren’t showing up.
Thank you again!
Agnes
AgnesParticipantHi Brook,
Thank you so much for your reply! I have enabled the built-in caching, but have not disabled JSON LD. The link for the script you’re suggesting isn’t working though!
If that doesn’t speed it up sufficiently, I’ll look into server solutions. Thanks!
