@jonah, I’m in the same boat as other people. We have the category permalink in our URL structure. Taking it out is not ideal for us. I’m on the most current release for Events Community 1.0.1.1 and WordPress 3.4. I tried saving my permalink options twice to see if that would resolve the issue as mentioned above and I’m still getting the WP-Routing page.

The problem we have here is that we use different widget with YouTube videos on various pages and show/hide those widgets per page using Dynamic Widgets. When the wp_routing page comes up it loads all of the widgets and essentially crashes our browser as it’s trying to load all the different sidebar widgets we have at once.

Worse case scenario, if I was to remove the category out of our permalink structure does wordpress automatically 301 redirect all the incoming links to their proper pages? I’m thinking it does, but I really don’t want to put it to the test on a website that’s as critical as ours until I’m 100% sure it does.

Do you think you could offer some advice here and do you need admin access to our site too?

Excellent. Thank you very much. We’re about to launch this to our community members who have weekly events and although I can see this would be helpful for some, for others it could really cause us a problem. So the sooner the better 🙂

If we could remove the option until a fix comes then that works for me too. I would need to know what line and what file I would need to modify.

@Henry this works perfectly. Love it.

I see there is an option in Geo Mashup called “Copy Geodata Meta Fields”. I’m wondering if there is a way to grab the address from the event and auto populate the Geo Mashup location with the event address the user places in this.

@Rob, we purchased the community events plugin (really like it) and I’m wondering how I could get the Geo Mashup custom metabox to appear in the front end so our community can add their geolocation. IF, there is a way to auto populate it like what I was thinking about in the above paragraph then I wouldn’t need for it to show on the front-end I wouldn’t think.

Thank you Jonah. I’ll try that out to see if that will work. If it does that would be excellent. Although I wonder how it might conflict with the google map feature of the event. I’ll nee to test that out today.

Henry, I was looking at “Comprehensive Google Map Plugin” (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/comprehensive-google-map-plugin/). The feature that caught my attention was, “Aggregate all your post markers in one map – Marker Geo Mashup!”

From what I’m reading it looks like WP Geo and Geo Mashup are similar. Working with geo mashups is new to me. But this is helpful.

Have you done this before Henry? And how would I make so that a years worth of past events would not show up in the mashup? Could have it so the post expires a day or two after the event?

Yes I have looked through to documentation but it doesn’t address what I’m looking for.

Installed the plugin. Works great on general posts, but the module does not show up on the Event posts. Does anyone know how I can get this to work show it will show up on the Event posts?

I’m assuming it’s because the Event posts are custom types. Couldn’t I just hook into the Event custom types in the functions file to add this module into them? I’m thinking I could, but not sure how I could do this or which hooks to call. If I could get the module to be included in the Events posts when creating a new event that could greatly help.

Rob could you check with one of your developers on this and ask them what’s possible here?

Thanks Rob! Unfortunately I need this solution in the next 7 days. So I’ll try out Henry’s solution to see if that will work. Reading through the feature list of “Comprehensive Google Map Plugin” I saw this line that really interested me: “Aggregate all your post markers in one map.”

Hopefully that will do the trick. If so then I’ll have a big smile on my face. 🙂

Hi Henry. No I haven’t thought about it because I did not know it existed. Good find though! 🙂

How would I use this to pull in all the events and display them on the map?

    I’ve been testing things.

My plugins are up to date, but what I think was happening is that we were using W3 Total Cache and it cached the old code. Probably why I was getting the error on Safari but no on Firefox. Once I cleared the cache it worked.

Both plugins are updated to version 2.0.3 and I’m still getting the error.

I’ll first deactivate plugins before we decide which forum to post on.

Thanks Joey for the follow up. I have it figured out. It looks like you have a way to override the default template by creating an /events folder in my theme and then copying over the event template files from the /views folder within the plugin. I went ahead and did that applying my template and layout to the single and all events templates. This did the trick as it allowed me to remove the sidebar.

Still not the most optimal way to go about templating the events page, however it works for our immediate needs.

2.1 of the plugin is a much needed release. Sorry to hear that there is no release date on that plugin. Please keep me up dated on the plugin release date as I would love to find a way for us to utilize Dynamic Widgets with our template for this.

Really all I need to do is have it so that the sidebar only shows up on the individual events. The dynamic widgets plugin seems to work on the individual event page but not on the events page with the calendar view. Ultimately all I want to do is be able to control which sidebars are showing or if any are showing at all on the calendar page.

But if going the route of creating my own custom page template maybe off a base template files for the calendar then that’s fine by me too.

You have tutorials for other some what useful things, but I would have thought a tutorial for creating a template would have been a top tutorial.

I’m playing around with the settings here. Changed to the default events template and on the Events page there’s no sidebar. Formatting of the page is a bit off with no padding, but I can deal with that through CSS.

But on the individual event page it shows the sidebar at the bottom of the page.

Is there a way where I can create a specific template and have it listed in the dropdown for “Events Template”? As it stands I only have “Default Page Template” and “Default Events Template”.

The “Default Events Template” has the event as full width on both “/events” and “/event/”. Problem here is that the sidebar on the “/event/” page is showing under the event detail due to the event detail section going full width.

I feel like I’m fixing it in one place only to have it not work in the other place. I’m tasked to get this fixed, but not exactly sure where to go.

Any help you can provide us with?

Thanks! That would be extremely helpful here. In the mean time is there an easy way to remove the entire sidebar on only the /events page?

Hi Rob, I know this is late in the game. We were side tracked on a few things. We’re still having this problem with the sidebar on the default events page.

I’ve deleted any page that was manually created as “events” to allow for the plugin to auto-generate the events page and we’re still having this problem.

The Dynamic Widgets plugin recognizes the custom post types, works on the interior pages but not on the events index page.

We’d like to keep the sidebar in,unfortunately it’s showing every single sidebar due to the events page not playing well with the dynamic sidebar.

If a fix can’t be found then where would I go to take out the sidebar on only the events page?

Maybe you could install the Dyanmic Widgets plugin and see exactly what I’m talking about.
